Let me fist say thanks for all the info on this site. I had the stock Goodyear sra tires 235/70/16 with about 50,000 mi still in good shape and I blew a sidewall out on a normal curve on a sand road! So after tones of searching I went with walmart Goodyear Authority 225/70/16. My jeep is stock with a good 18 inch gap still, so this new tire fills in the wheel well so much better. With 30 psi the tires make contact with the ground accross the tire. The ride is smooth, better than the stock tires. Road noise not bad at all. Went to the sandy nasty river trails and never had to use 4 wheel drive in places i had to have it with stock tires. Also they work very nice in deep drift sand. The tire is worth every penny but only time will tell, I am a little worried about the 2 ply sidewalls. Cant wait for some more snow, think they will be a blast. I almost went with BFG km2 but 900 bucks was a little over what i wanted to spend. I called several shops and even Tire Rack and after shipping and finding a place to mount them it was gonna be around 900 no matter what. |

Did I read this right? You went to a smaller tire than before? 235/70-16 to a 225/70-16 that is a narrower and smaller diameter than you had before... |

Lol I goofed. I went from 235/70/16 to 225/75/16. My speed was about right on with the stock tires, per the wifes car infront of me. After the new tires were on, she set her car at 60 as i did as well. She was pulling ahead of me somewhat so I will be using the gps in the next few days. It seems odd that I am going slower with a taller tire for sure unless im thinking backwards? Does seem to use a bit more energy to get the jeep moving than it did with wider tires. I seen a guy on the forums that has a silver 2007 jeep with general grabber AT2s 225/75/16 and that helped me decide to get them. This is an 03 liberty sport and had 30,000 mi when i got it. Now its at 50,000 low miles and id guess it has low miles due to 13 mi per gallon highway lol. So i bet even with the tire being lighter and skinny, it will even be worse with taller tires:( O and guy with the trick orange jeep that thing is very nice and well done! Im around Great bend Kansas so not very many jeepers in this area, I dont think anyway. |

225/75-16 and 235/70-16 are virtually identical in diameter. The 225's are just a little narrower than the original ones you had. BTW, both of those sizes were stock sizes on the KJ. |

I have a friend in Great Bend that belongs to Great bend river rats. They spend there summers driving up and down the Arkansas river. (In the river) He has a Zuki all set up for deep water. |

Yup, 13 is the best i can get out of it. Someone told me it might be the computer and it needs reflashed or somthing like that. Im going to change the plugs soon. The air filter lookes to be clean but i have not changed it. |

That is crazy. I was getting 16 MPG with HEAVY 285/75-16 LT tires on mine with stock 373 gears. No reason you should be getting that low of mileage. You need a tune up real bad. |

It was getting that 13 mpg when we bought it with 27,000 miles on it. What all do i need to do? New airfilter, plugs any thing else? |

Air Filter, Plugs, and Seafom are a great place to start. Then see where you are after that. Seafoam it before you change plugs, so you don't foul your brand new plugs. Then replace the plugs, and air filter. |

Ever been to the Tuttle Creek ORV Park? It's about 30 minutes north of Manhattan, lots of good trails/offroading! |
