(newbie plz be nice) What do you guys think about a 3" lift, 1-1/2 wheel spacer (or more if its required for less rubbing) and 265/75/16 bfg or bridgestone m/t? on a 06 liberty renegade. It will rub at the sway bar even with the spacer? It will rub at all? what can i do to make them fit with no rubbing? And something else, would anyone plz tell me what the "cv joint or cv angle" is. im sorry but im from Venezuela and my definitions in english of mechanic parts are not so good  ...

The spacers will get them off the sway bar, but they will rub everywhere else. I don't think it is possible to stop them from rubbing. If you don't want rubbing, you need to get a smaller tire. Here is a picture of a cv. It is the thing with the boots at either end. Keep it as horizontal as posible.

Firs of all thanks for your help. but when you say that it will rub everywhere else, you mean at the fender right?, cause if im lifting 3" and i dont think that it will rub there, unless at full flex i supose... but what im going to do is measure the tire (before i buy it) with the fender and see if theres a chance, even with some cutting. what do you think?, do i need to worry about any other part of the car that the tire will touch? cause the sway bar wont be a problem with the spacer (correct me if im wrong), and the fender im about to find out, but if you tell me that there is another way of rubbing im screwed

Do your self a favor and stick with 245/75/16, they look great and still get you where you need to go. If your worried about looks don't be... I got my frankenlift on the front yesterday and even with the stock 225/75/16 it looks great! Can't wait to get some 245/75/16 on there though. |

YOU WILL BE JUST FINE WITH A 265/75/16!!! I run them on mine....a slight rub on the front of the fender well. If you can't stand it then take a heat gun and push the plastic in a little bit. Its well worth it if you TRULY want to run a 265/75/16. And as far as rubbing on the sway bar.....yea little but so what?!? Whats the big deal...it doesn't damage anything. And you can't even hear it.... My advice, if you REALLY want a 265/75/16 them put them on. In my opinion you will not be disappointed. If I had gone with a 245/75/16 I'd be kicking myself right now. |

bighaus runs 245's. The only time my rub is in reverse (just barely), so I have no complaints |

I'm running 265/75R16 (Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo LT) on my 3" lifted Renegade (Frankenlift). The larger tires will rub in three places in the front: the sway bar, the air dam/front of the wheel well, and the back of the wheel well. To stop the rubbing on the sway bar install some 1.25" wheel spacers (Spidertrax WHS-002). The stop the rubbing on the back of the wheel well, cut off the plastic pinch weld cover, hammer over the pinch weld, and then cover all of the bare metal with undercoating. To stop the rubbing on the front of the wheel well you'll need to devise some way to pull the front of the well forward into the front bumper. You'll also need to trim out some of the air dam where it rubs. This is all possible and still looks completely stock. You should only get slight rub when the wheels are turned to the extremes while going in reverse. As for the back tires, they should fit fine, although they'll probably stuff off road. You'll probably also want to put the spacers on the rear wheels as well for symmetry (probably other reasons as well). The spacers are just the right size for my Renegade that the wheels don't project past the flares and through road crap up on the car. |

Yup, that's my rig. 245/75's I get a very minimal rubbing in the rear, but only if the tires really tuck up into the fenders. I run the stock bumpstops because I don't want to give up any flex, extended ones would allow for 265's if I put some extra spring isolaters in and did a clevis lift. My mileage (15mpg) is bad enough with the 245's though. |

Make notice that some with 265/75 size tires say they don't rub much, but their tires have a much less aggressive tread compared to what you're looking for (M/Ts). If you get this tire size, you should expect to take out your fender well linings and get different rims to articulate to the extent someone's KJ can with 31s. The most flex from a 2.5" lifted KJ I've seen on this board won the recent February Flex Rig of The Month Contest. Done so with 31s on 4.0 BS rims and no fender well linings. You'll probably want to check out his (Calvin56) write-up on removing the linings in the fab. section if you get aggressive 32" tires. He claims his set-up has no rubbing anywhere, including the sway-bar! |
