Tire extended past Fender Flares?

Anyone have tires that stick out past thier fender flares? I really like the way that looks but was wondering if the tire hits when the springs compress into the wheel well when off roading.

This is more of a wheel (rim) thing. The backspacing, or BS, of a rim affects how far out it sticks from the axle hub (where you put the lug nuts on). The lower the number BS, the farther out the rim. Stock Liberty rims are around 5.5" BS I think, and Moab rims ~5.25" BS (correct if I'm wrong on these numbers), and a lot of people who get black rock-crawler type rims (Cragar Soft-8's, Rockcrawler Series 51's) go with 4.0" BS. This puts the tire out pretty far, making for an aggressive look. Trying to acheive this with a thicker tire will result in the fender flares popping off, and that does suck.

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at Cragar Soft 8s with the 4" of backspacing. I really like the look of an inch or two of rubber extending past the flares but don't want to mess up offroading capability.

On a side bar, I was wonder what a lib would look like with the flares off all around.

I bet it would look not-road-legal! :-P

Most states require some percentage of the tire to be covered by the flares (50% or 75% or something).
