Does anyone know what the backspacing is? I don't know how to post pics..yet but they are the wheels that come with the c package on the 06 sports. Thanks.

Pretty sure all the liberty tires are 7" width and 5.5" backspace (both the 16" and 17" rims) |

Thanks! I am looking replace them for some cragar black steel wheels. The 16x8 has a 5" backspacing but the extra 1" in width well bring it out some...plus the 1/2" less in backspacing. BTW, does anyone have a picture of a white KJ with black rims? |

That should help. A lot of people get the Rubicon MOAB rims, which are a 5" backspace, so you'll probably get a similar result. Something to note - When you swap rims, you'll get a light on the dash (and EVIC, if you have one) telling you that your tire pressure system is failing. If you decide to swap out the Tire Pressure Monitoring sensors, let us know how it works. I'd like to try it, but I don't want to be the guinea pig (and I don't want to swap rims without it, because it will make the EVIC worthless since it will say CHECK TPM SYSTEM on every startup. |

You might not have the EVIC (overhead computer), but all Liberties have the TPM display on the dash. You won't notice it until you drop one tire low enough in pressure to register (25 or below usually works), or if you stop using rims that have the sensors) |

I have the overhead computer. I checked jeep.com and that TPM is not available for sport models so I am in the clear with that.

On the 2005, at least, the "TPM" option is different than the built in TPM. The TPM option is what displays the actual pressures on the EVIC display. Without that option, you will still get a low-pressure and TPM system failure error. I said "no" to the TPM system, but still get the "tire pressure low" alarm on the EVIC and on the dash. I can't find any information about it online, but you'll find out if you swap out the rims if you have it or not |

check this out... http://www.jeepkj.com/forums/viewtopic. ... 2de405de64 16x7 5.5" backspace... 41mm offset 5 Bolt x 114.3 mm 4.5" A TPM transmitter is a small box ie size of 3 matchboxes together (on GM anyways) attached to the rim where the valvestem comes out. I found that out when I had a blow out. The KJ valve stem on the rim was alloy on the one I saw. If that helps. |
