Just got my Parnelli Jones Dirt Grip 31's put on last weekend! They look pretty sweet but rub all over the place. Overall diameter is actually 31.5" x 10.5" wide. I chose them over the SSR's because I was told they are more road worthy and instead of the STT's because I heard the STT compound is pretty hard and slippery on wet pavement and rocks. I paid $142 per tire and shipping was $70. Overall, CA tax would have been like $45 so buying the specific tire I wanted online only cost me an extra $25. They do hum fairly loud from 25-45mph but over that the pitch gets real high and barely noticeable. I drive with my windows down most of the time anyway. Definately gave up some power and handling but I just rationalize it by saying it "drives like a truck." On the other hand, small bumps that used to be jarring are much less annoying (especially those stupid lane dividers we have here in CA!).

Check out the flex I've given up for now.

The old 30's stuffed perfectly.

Check out how they rub on the back of the wheel well (evidenced by the dirt-free spot)

Still running puck spacers in the rear. I'm hoping that when I get new OME springs and bump stops I'll get a little extra height and a little more flex! Fog light relocation/bumper trim mod needs to happen soon also.

Overall, it's been and continues to be a PITA to fit these tires but I just love watching people snap their necks when I pass by! I'll let y'all know how they do off road as soon as gas prices drop and I can afford to go wheel it.

Man, I'm probably responsible for 90% of the reads on this thread! I've been looking at your pics all day. It looks awesome and makes me anticipate getting mine on the KJ.

I think they've been around for 5 or 6 years. They're basically comprable to the SSR's but lean a little farther toward the road performance side (more siping and smaller lugs) which is why I got them. I should be getting them dirty within the next two weeks... I'll let y'all know what happens!

Are those 15" Rock Krawlers? If so, they look awesome--I'm planning to go with 15" RKs and 31x10.5 Richard Cepek FC-IIs. I hope they look half as beefy as yours.

Edit: Mr. Cepek will be so proud to see his first name changed to an expletive...

Those are sweet looking tires. You will have to keep us informed on their performance.

Do a google search for parnelli jones, he is the godfather of off-road racing.

I think they're American Racing... Not really sure. Definately 15's though. Got 'em off a guy with a Ranger for like 20$ each.

Old thread but I just discovered these tires and the fact that they make them in a 31x10.5/16.
Ave Joseph, your KJ looks good. If you are still around here, any updates for us on fitting and
road handling/noise??

Anyone else have any experience to share on Parnelli Jones Dirt grips?

Thanks,
Scott
