Does anyone know if these Grabber AT2 255 65 r16will fit on a stock '05? They are 29.1 x 10.2. Would make a great stock sand tire and are only $87 from tirerack.com. |

CB4017 has been running a set of Grabber AT's 255/70/16 on stock rims, with a Rusty's lift for over a year with miminum rubbing (only when flexed). |

I am sure that a 255/70-16 will not fit without a lift It will fit but will rub a lot ! stock KJ, no lift - max is 245/70-16 |

It will fit but will rub a lot ! stock KJ, no lift - max is 245/70-16 I agree, a 255/70R16 will not fit (it is just too tall, 30.1") However, I think a 255/65R16 has a very good chance of fitting. It is shorter than a 245/70R16 (29.1" as opposed to 29.5"), and it is only 0.3" wider (245mm->255mm) |

According to the Tire Rack, it is 29.1x10.2 . The height seems ok, but they seem a little wide. |

The height seems ok, but they seem a little wide. Oh, yeah, I'd go with the TireRack numbers over the calculated size numbers, since even tires that are the same nominal size are different actual sizes by manufacturer, tread, etc. I was just going on the 255mm x 70% aspect and converting to inches. It does seem wide, but I don't know what the limiting factor is on tire size for a stock liberty. I assume that the limit is how tall the tire can be, since lifting will only make the fender well further from the tire vertically. There could be some other factors in there, too. I say crank the wheel to full-lock and take a tape measure to it. If you have 225/75R16s right now, see what an extra 15mm on each side would do. Height is the same or shorter (I think a 225/75R16 is actually taller than a 255/65R16). Another option would be to get different rims - the MOAB rims that are so popular on here are 0.5" lower backspacing, which will net you that extra 0.5" in horizontal clearance off the swaybar (but it will make the tires swing out further when they turn, so you may clip a fender with a taller/wider tire) |

I'm running 255/65/16's Firestone Destination's on my 2005 KJ...UNLIFTED! Clear with very, very minor rubbing if I tilt her over too far. Of course, I'm running Rubicon rims which gives me a wider stance due to the offset. My track is overall about 3 inches wider, just exactly to the outside of the edge of the car's body. Car is amazingly much more stable on the roads!!!!!!!! Padrino |
