I'm glad someone else has noticed this problem too.
My KK seems to suffer from the same problem.

It's always hot down here in South Florida so I almost always have the A/C on full blast. What seems to happen is that on a mad hot day, the compressor seems to cut in and out at various intervals. It may start out cold air, but after a while it will seem to shut off. The blower is blowing full blast, but tepid air is coming from the vents. Then a while later it will go back to cold air.

This is unacceptable cause the vehicle won't cool down. I know I'd heard a while back about some cars that the compressor will cut out under heavy acceleration to give more power to the engine. But I don't think this is the case here. Even at idle sometimes it will blow not so cold air. I think I'm taking it in to have it checked.

Doesn't seem to matter if it's on recirculate or not....totally random. I need my A/C to be cold all the time :x .

WHY NOT TRY TO TENT THE WINDOWS, IT WORKS GREAT KEEPING THE INTERIOR COOL.

Yeah i noticed on my test drive when going up the grapevine, a large hill on the freeway, it cut out and when i was in low 4 going up a nice hill that it cut out. I should have thought something of this but yeah in low 4 up a hill it made sense..... I thought and still kind-of-does. Well the FREE fix from the bulletin did make it 5 degrees cooler over all and thats 5 degrees cooler for now!

The windows have the darkest legal tint available.

It does help, but the problem is still there. The A/C cuts in and out randomly no matter what setting it's at.
I'm taking her in for my free oil change next week, and I'll have them do the TSB for the A/C at that time.

We'll see if it does any good.

Let us know if it makes any difference, Digger.

It seems since my KK was born in April, I will get the ATC/MTC flash, and a recharge....whoo hoo

I just had the flash done!! The dealership service department knew about it and told me before I had a chance to say that the air conditioner was not working correctly. What a big difference!! Very cold air now.... It took all of 15 minutes to do!! Thanx to Diggerfreek...

Thanks!!!

any way, the ebrake will not hold the jeep in place on an incline. it has always been like this but has gotten worse over the year. I will let you know what the dealership did not find..lol

Okay its seems to be cooler, not COLD. But truly I have a digital thermometer in the a/c vent and tested it before and after. It is 48-58 now and was 53-63 before. Is that really much colder, NO. It should by no means get over 55 degrees at 100 degrees outside temp. They have to come up with a real fix. I like in california and it is the tail end of summer and is only getting up to 90. I go to laughlin, nv and there it is well over 100, mostly 115 and a few days it may reach 126. No a/c should ever get over 65 even in 115 degrees, my s-10 blazer would be 60 in 115, so our KK's should be 48 all the time. The only think was can do to help keep it from going up to 60 when stopped would be to add a electric fan behind the front grill. Now I have not looked into this for the KK. I might have to thou!! I'll keep u all posted. This is will help keep the temp down when really hot and also when not moving as it will keep the a/c radiator cooler.

Well, I took her in for oil change/tire rotation and added I wanted them to do the TSB on the A/C. When the service rep checked for any TSB's, he told me there weren't any  .

I guess I could print the TSB notice that Digger posted and bring it in to them....but I'm sure they would still deny that there is one.

Good thing this isn't a safety issue.

The service bulletin number is 24-007-08.I checked the TSB,and any model built between Aug.26,'07 to July 2,'08 needs to have the A/C system recovery and recharge with 18oz of refrigerant is required.Your fall into this TSB.This what was done on my wifes KK,and it works great so far.Give this bulletin number to your service writer and they should know what to do.

Right...thanks Rich, but this much I knew for sure.

What's puzzling is, why didn't they have any record of the TSB from their data base. The service rep pulled up the report and showed me, quote "See, there's no recall for your Jeep." I said I knew there was no recall, but there is a TSB for the A/C. He then reiterated...nope nothing here.

I gave up at that point and said just do the oil change. No sense getting into a pissing match with him
Anyway I'm gonna talk to the GM at the dealership. We've been friends for 15 years. If anybody can make it happen, he can .

I don't know why they don't have that TSB,but many people on differant forums had this done with know problem.Thats why when I have a problem,I have the TSB number with me so they can't say it doesn't exist. The GM should give you action. If you have to go on his computer and show him this thread.Good Luck.

I just had this done on mine yesterday... The air is cold as hell now!

As a totally unrelated aside - it was 28 degrees up at the house this morning.

LOL - I always loved that completely contradictory expression! :)

Are you talking Fahrenheit or Celsius?
