One of them was probably for support so he didn't fall down the clif if the pull went bad.

yeah, if he has both ends supported, it will help prevent the rear end from sliding down hill and possibly pulling front pull vehicle down with him. With Two other jeeps hookd to it, they would have lost 3 jeeps instead of two....   Seriously, it would be safer recovery with both ends hooked.
I'm still curious how he got in that position.... and no TBJ, that's not what she said!

From the looks of the pictures it seems the KK's have a habit of getting into that position!

Imagine if you were that far off a trail with no mud, snow, incline, water, etc... it'd take you a while to come up with a cool way of describing it too.

 Boy you guys are hungry for info

So basically I moved over to the side to let another jeep pass me.... There was a 4d JK coming up the trail. First it started that he wanted us to back up the hill. Well once he saw 4 of us, he made his old lady get out and drive the jeep backwards down the hill.... All in the while being a complete booty about it. Well once he got down the hill, I tried to back up and felt my rear end move down the hill. Then I tried to move forward a little and that wasn't going to happen. I then called on the CB to have the guys hook up to me and pull me out. Well that didn's go so well and I ended up in an even worse spot.....

At this point, the KK behind me didn't want to have any part in recovery since he got pull so far over... I can understand and I don't fault him at all.... Now I think we tried one more pull forward and called it quits. By now, the booty in the JK came up the hill and his attitude changed and he took over the lead.

After a little pow-wow, it was decided we had a few choices,

1. Call a tow truck
2. Spend the night
3. Try and self recover again using the JK and the TJ ( came down from the top way way after)
4. let it roll.....
5. Pull my rear end up and let me drive down the hill

So we tried #1... called 911 and they transferred us to a tow company. Started talking to the tow truck guy and he flat out told us to F* Off. He wasn't coming up that night.

So new left with 2, 3, and 4.... we had a second pow wow. I wasn't going to let #4 happen and no one except for me to spend the night. So #2 was out which left #3 and #5. They wouldn't let me drive down the hill so #3 it was.

Now the KK, the Black JK and the TJ backed up the hill and switched places. We strapped my front end back up to the KK in front of me and then took my new 30 ft strap and wrapped it around the roof rack( ) and attached it to the JK. The TJ and KK then daisy chained to the JK. We then dropped the pressures in the left side tires and gave it a go. The KK up front then pulled all 4 of us up the hill.

Now mind you, it took over an hour and a half to do all of this and like I side, I was still inside of the KK standing on the brake WITH NO SEAT BELT.... so if I would have rolled, yeah SPLAT!!

Once back on the road, I got out and my legs felt like jello...

So in the end, a trail that should have been completed by 6pm ended up turning in to a night run and ending at 8ish

Jonny5, your title to this thread is way off and a little out of line. After what Nate posted it really wasn't his fault. He didn't do anything "stupid" ...

No, It was a stupid moment on my part. I should have waited and pass the other JK further down the hill...

As far as damage, One the front coil over... I haven't gone under the Jeep yet.

I will say that the Rock Lizard roof rack saved my butt :P

Sorry, I just don't think calling you out like that was cool. Yeah I'm sure it was said in good fun but the bottom line is you almost took a very big tumble down a hill and it could have ended very badly.
