Yes that is what my seat looks like. The first time the dealer took a picture and called the next day and said they would replace the seat cover. Now that it is happening again they said they would get back with me within two days, I was told there could be a possible recall. The seat wear is not normal, my 2004 Liberty I traded in on the 2010 the seats looked the same as they did when I bought the car new. I have never had a vehicle with seat upholstery that would wear out this way. I don"t know what they will decide to do time will tell. David

You didnt tell the dealer about your velcro pants did you?? :ROTFL:

I just got word that Jeep has approved to have the seat cover replaced again. They said that is the only fabric that they have. I was told by the case manager if it wears again (begins to fray) to call them again to proceed with the lemon law. It seems kind of stange but that is the way things work with Chrysler. David

While that is definitely unacceptable with the age of the vehicle, I was personally thinking that the seat cover was coming apart at the seams. I seriously doubt I'd even proceed with taking it to the dealer constantly for... that.

But that's just me.

That looks like exactly what I'm seeing as well. Mine is not quite as widespread (yet ;)), but it looks the same. In my case, I figured it was because some of my shorts have velcro pockets in the back that were catching on the material. So far I haven't had the dealer look at it, but I probably will ask about it before my warranty is up.

I wonder if the velcro on my back pockets has been the problem all along. Is there anyone who has their seat fabric fraying that does not have velcro pockets. I did do a test to see how the velcro stuck and grabbed the fabric on the seats. It does definitely stick and see how felcro over time would wear the fabric. I am now using a towel to sit on until I find a good seat cover I like. All my work pants have velcro pockets! David

Same here, 09 with 56k and losts of in/out time. Just a little "white" on the edges when it hits the side plasic frame on the seat. Only issues I've had was the driverside, rear passenger auto locking module failed. It won't lock/unlock with keyfob, speed autolock, or unlock from inside cabin switches. Part is 90.00 and going this friday to have it fixed. It failed at 38k miles, 1 year old, and dealer wouldn't fix it or share cost. Getting last years xmas gift (chrysler heated seat kit) installed too while I'm there. Don't have the time so getting it done before it get cold here in Mich.

I don't know about that. I went out and looked at my seats in my 09 and sure enough, seeing what I consider abnormal wear. The seat looks like it has these little balls all over it. My daughters 02 limited seats looks great. A little faded but still smooth. My seats sides are that canvas kinda material and on the driver side, has that "white" wear affect where the seat meets the plastic . And here I thought a better seat covering was used in the new Liberties vs olderones. From the looks of mine and my daughters, that's not true.

This morning I took my Liberty back to the dealer to replace the drivers bottom seat cover for the third time. In the past they have had to special order the part. Today they had it in stock perhaps its because they are replacing them more often now. The other issue I have had is the clock losing about 3 to 4 minutes a month. I have had it in for repair 3 times for that today being the third time. Today the dealer said they had a message from Chrysler not to do any repairs to the clock that it is a issue they are trying to correct ,that they think it may be a software problem with a number of Liberty's. They will fix it in time when they have the problem understood. Other than those two problems I am very happy with the Liberty.

I have both of those problems. I know my dad has had issues with his clock too, so I'm not surprised to hear that it's a semi-common problem.

Sorry guys, not to bring this back from the dead but I am wondering how it went.

Also, had you considered asking them to upgrade you to leather upholstery?

My seats are not fraying but I do have a hole now on the side bolster, where it rubs against the plastic trim when I'm getting out. 63000 miles. This probably wouldn't have happened so soon if I was not lifted.

Bah!

I am at less than 5000 miles and I was actually about to post about this. I see now that Jeep went pretty from 2010-present. Mine look like I'm always wearing velcro pants and most of my driving is city. If the deaer is just going to keep replacing them maybe I'll look into some better seats or covers, maybe if the JK seats are better.
