Mine was $500 including alignment as well, plus a free checkup/tuneup after 1000 miles.

It literally pays to learn how to do it yourself, but some circumstances call for going to the shop (not having space/tools, time constraints, etc.)

Have you decided who you're going to have install it for you?

Not yet, I called OK 4WD and FX AUTOMOTIVE in NJ but got ni answers. They both got my number and told me they will call back with a price and still waiting. I contacted a guy locally (LI) so maybe I'll go this SAT to talk to the owner of the shop.

Let us know how it turns out. Also, I've even read about some people getting even better deals from the dealership installing the lift.

I can't remember. I do remember it being cheaper than $500.
You'll save money if you can do it yourself, but you should expect $500-700 I'd say.

My dealer quoted me $800 for an install and alignment. I'm more than likely going to have a friend help me install it but I wanted to see what their figures were, just for kicks.

I installed my lift by myself. The only part that I had a mechanic work on was compressing the old springs, and mounting the new front shocks. I called my local dealer for a quote, and they wanted to charge me $120 just to compress the springs... no thank you! I went to Midas, and they did it for $30.

It's actually a really easy install as long as you don't run into any issues. My passenger side upper rear sway bar link bolt sheared off while trying to remove it, and it took forever to drill it out. Without that issue, it would have only taken 6-8 hours tops with just me and my brother-in-law using hand tools and floor jacks.

I have some tools, floor jack, jack stands, ramps and about 300 pc mechanic set from Craftsman. Also have a pneumatic cordless drill but no sprinp compressor. I'll talk to a mechanic to see how much he will wanted to compress the springs. I which I can do it just for the fun of it, I'm a little mechanicly oriented person, I work as a Maintenance Supervisor and that kind of mechanics is not that difficult the problems comes with jacking-up the car to have some room to work. Hopefully I'll solve this soon.

If you do end up doing it yourself, take a look at this thread:

http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=104&t=41880

The instructions are for a Dodge Nitro, but everything is exactly the same. This will at least give you an idea of what's involved with the installation.

927s are 400lbs springs. Trust me you don't want to be compressing them yourself. Let the shops with the big spring compressors do it.

Thanks a lot, I printed the instruccions and talk to my mechanic. He told me to come back next TUE to talk about money.

Nothing fancy with this install. Removing the old parts and replacing with the new. No fabrication needed besides drilling the hockey pucks for the rear bumpstops.
Should be very easy for any experienced mechanic.

When in that thread, be sure to look at post 3 for things I would have done different.
