I was going to say it better be more then $50 ... I just bought an 08 KK PCM off eBay for $150.
Yeah then the hassle of having the dealer program it since the new PCM has to be installed so they can program it and your KK most likely will not run with the different PCM until it is correctly programed to your KK which can run from $100-$200+.

OK here is the deal ... I just spoke to B&G

- You have to send them your PCM. They do NOT supply you with a new PCM.

- They adjust the PCM based upon your mods. So if you only have an intake system they will be a little more mild with the adjustments. They can adjust anything from stock to highly modified. You just have to tell them what you have done mod wise. If you plan to doing other performance mods in the near future tell them and they can take that into consideration when they are doing the flash.

- They do NOT recommend that you use a JET chip with the PCM. Since they custom modify the PCM based upon your mods the JET chip won't really help. The JET chip is a general adjustment. The B&G flash is more custom and to the point.

- ALL the engine limits are removed. Meaning you can get a much power as you want from the engine (until you blow it up  )

- The $350 is ONLY for the engine side. If you want the auto transmission control modified, which is also controlled from the PCM, it will cost another $300. The transmission modification includes shift points adjusted and torque management removed along with other adjustments.

- The parameters are set with the notion that you are using PREMIUM fuel. They stress that you must run 91+ to get the most from the flash.

- Just with the engine flash you can expect somewhere in the range of 20HP depending on other performance mods you have.

- Turn around time is 1-2 day. Once they get the PCM it will take them 1-2 days to flash it and ship it back.

sounds like you guys get screwed with your different type of pcm :(

i didn't have to send my pcm in, and got both for 350

just for clarification, engine limits removed means stock engine rpm limiter and stock vehicle overspeed limits are raised, you'd still have a RPM limiter, it's roughly 550 rpm higher than stock which the engine is very capable of dealing with

i did not mean to throw you guys for a inadvertent loop, i had no idea that there would be that much of a difference between our models b&g setups

So you went dirctly to there shop then? They can't program anything if you don't send them anything.Oh and you most likely have the separate PCM and TCM so you did not get any of the trans stuff since if you did not send anything in.

They sent me both. I was told that since the KJ model PCM's were so cheep that I did not need to send one in for it to be flashed - as i stated earlier in the thread

and yes it was two separate modules, the packing boxes are still in the laundry room since we can't throw corrogated cardboard in the dang trash anymore and that was something that had apparently not stuck in my brain

I frankly don't even remember putting both on but when digger switched fenders on me it threw me a loop and had me thinking that it was just one unit, it wasn't exactly a time consuming or memorable install

but again, i wasn't asked to send in my stock equiptment i've still got both sitting on the shelf in the shop, i even jumped on the polaris and rode down there to make sure i wasn't losing my mind

well apparently I AM losing my mind

i can not find a charge on my card over 500 dollars other than the cam, pistons and valves i ordered, and a few other things that were all bought from the same place

if i did pay 350 twice it came in two separate transactions and i do NOT see two of them

apparently i should have just kept quiet and let this thread go instead of confusing people with my spotty and hectic memory but then again i've misremembered and misspoke more important things than a 5-10 minute install.

and Troy,

Not sure how many times through this thread I mentioned that they sent me the PCM without me having to send mine in. From the key word send you can pretty much assume that I did not have to go there. The only piece (important piece) of information that I failed to recall after a few months was that it was both a PCM and a TCM. Digger was the first I told about it, i think Tom was the second 3 or 4 days after the install and right after taking it for a run down the runway.

Hope everythings goin great for you outside of the forum. Don't let your stress bleed into the forum :)

in anycase, i think the OP has current information to answer the origional post

apparently it's 350 per unit with a sent in unit for the KK's

or maybe you'll get lucky like i did and only get charged for one, i've now gone through both of my card statements and only have 1 charge from them

and i STILL don't actually remember putting two modules on, but there's two sitting on the shelf so apparently I did, the only other jtec i've replaced was on my friends wrangler and that one wen't in the trashcan 300 miles away

You got lucky and your running very illegal right now also since your VIN is not programmed into the PCM/TCM(dealership only can legally do this).I take it you do not have the OEM alarm then otherwise your KJ would not start.

tkjk ... what is your problem? You've been nothing but negative and condescending this whole thread. If you have nothing positive to contribute leave the thread.

It's full of miss information. You all are worried about your warranty's so you need to have the correct info,or you can just learn the hard way whne you have to buy a $6000 engine or $3500 transmission.

Then instead of being Nancy Negative give us the correct info. If you think you know something that we don't or we should know then post it ... As this thread goes on it obvious the KJ and KK are very different. If you know thing that pertains to the KK post it. If not, BYE BYE

So what do you want to know? That the 42RLE does not respond as well as other transmissions, that your PCM and TCM are combined,or since KK's have the OEM alarm system adding a non-programmed(to your KK) PCM/TCM that your KK will not start. How about if something goes wrong or you have a TSB done that requires a reflash your B&G programming will be erased and the OEM programs will be installed.

first off, you get much more information if you ask for clarification or further information rather than putting people on an unwarranted defensive

yes mistakes of information were made, things were forgotten and left out
thanks for the assistance in clarifying things but that's no excuse to behave in such manner.

no i don't have an alarm

without the correct vin the vehicle will run for a few seconds and shut off with a CEL

my vehicle runs, and no CEL

put 2 and 2 together.

I'm done here.

just for clarification sake in regards to the VIN and alarm: when you say alarm, are you referring to the transponder in the key? if you do not have keys with a transponder, do you still need to have the VIN # programmed?

I am pretty sure I have read all the threads on B&G reprogramming and this is the first time i remember the TCM being mentioned.....I thought torque management was a feature of the ECM, not the TCM......why are we having TCM's reprogrammed?

Your best bet is to call B&G and ask them everything. The answers in this thread are very unclear.
