For you guys with lifts and bigger tires, do you think you lost more mpgs from the larger size or the great weight? In theory wouldn't you get better hwy mpgs with larger tires and the lowers gears (assuming you didn't regear)?

Mine was affected by tire weight for sure.................

"In theory" by effectively lowing the RPM on the highway......

if you were to live on flat straight roads i could see it. i drove from florida to iowa and there were alot of areas of hills that killed my mileage. having that extra height and weight on the wheels and tires caused the trans to keep having to downshift. i got 15-19mpg on that trip

14.5 mpg consistently, bone stock, 1500 miles on the odo.

10 miles stop and go traffic to work, 10 miles highway at 70ish mph on the way back. Other than that, just local driving.

Just ran to Chicago from Minneapolis this weekend. 781 miles freeway @75 and 55miles in town stop and go. 21.8mpg for the trip. I usually get a mile or two better but it was cold about 10-15 degrees out and I also used the car starter Sunday morning.

I hate to say it, but my mpg is going down.. lol (expected). I was up at 19, so that's where I voted way back when. But now I'm down to 17 with all the roof stuff. And more weight. Trying to figure out how to add overhead lights again, but without the automatic 2 mpg loss.

Mine seems to have settled around 19 for city driving, if I drive like a granny. Saw this in the parking lot the other day though, made me laugh

I went from approx 20mpg down to the 15 range with the lift and tires. Increased tire weight and undercarriage drag I'd assume. I'd think skids would help smoothe the airflow under, but then again, there would be the further increase of wt. Of course, I didn't buy the darn thing for the mileage.

That would be correct if that was the only change, bigger tires. Add in the lift, more drag, etc, aerodynamics are now off. Best accurate way to figure out is GPS since more then just tires changed. Travel a tank, half a tank, whatever. and calculate the GPS tripometer to the added gallons of gas, compare GPS to factory tripometer.

I didn't yet submit my mpg's. I have just over 5000 miles on mine, mpg's slowly climbing. Last 2 tanks were 20-mpg, combo city/hwy. I travel 44 miles 1 way to /from work with 44 traffic lights. I'm trying to drive sensible, not gouging on the gas to get up to speed or racing to the next light. Max speed I'll go is 60, but for most part will hang around post'd speed limit, usually 2 over whats post'd.
