I'm sure you'll love it. It's more fun to drive when you can actually hear the exhaust.

Consensus after driving home from work. low rumble when idle, great note while accelerating and no interior drone while maintaining speed. All points to a good purchase!

I've been want to do that for awhile now. Did you have to do the pinch weld to clear the tires?
I'm going to try pro comp rock krawlers 15"x7"or8" with 3 3/4" backspace. I have one 7" wide but the tires I want require an 8" rim.

You'd have to do the pinch welds
but do it right and bend it over instead of cutting and making the body structure weaker like some do
I want to know why someone would buy wheels then add spacers also , not only limits the amount of flex you can have due to having the tires stick out that far but also just not a good idea

Probably got them with the wrong backspace and put spacers in to compensate instead of getting different rims. A 15" rim with anything more than 3 1/2" or so backspace will rub on the bottom ball joint bolt. You'd either have to grind it almost to the nut or move the rim outward.

My stupid question for the day has come, since we're on the subject of backspace. Say I have a 7" wide rim with 4" of backspace(that's stock isn't it?). If I was to get a 7" wide rim with 3" of backspace(just using numbers at this point lol) would that push the rim farther out towards the edge of the Jeep, or would I need to go up to say 5" of backspace on a 7" wide rim?

I know it's a dumb question, but I never understood backspace. So if someone points me in the right direction I'll start getting it lol.

On topic, I'm probably going to pick up skids for the KK sometime this week

Stock backspacing is 5 inches some 5.5 in the larger sizes
7 inch wide rim with 4 inches of back spacing works great
anything less than that is pushing the tire/wheel too far out and causing lots of issues of rubbing etc
unless of course you're just driving to the mall

so yes 3 inches of backspacing would push the tire out farther making it look,.... well I'll stop there

More than likely but makes no sense at all
too wide of a wheel really to start with
OK back spacing if staying with 16 inch wheel
but of course need more to run 15s and then why?
What are you gaining by going to 15 inch tires?
Nothing but issues with rubbing etc
:2cents: well ok :2cents: :2cents:

The only reason, at least for myself, would be so I can use flotation type tires. Plus there's a lot larger selection and they cost a bunch less than 16" tires.

The reason for the wheels spacers was because the the bottom ball joint hit and the brake caliper hit. When bying my rims I based the back spacing off what I read on the forum because I hadn't seen any one else do this and I wanted a good idea on to what to get. As for the pinch weld I cut it off and had it welded. I really wasn't loosing strength the one thing that I didn't like about bending it was that u didnt pick up that much more space and I needed more with a 11.5 in tire.

Just for future reference, the Pro Comp steel D window, I think series 52, were the only ones that cleared the brake caliper enough but the lower ball joint would rub. 3 3/4" backspace was what I found would fit. :2cents: I still haven't tried tires.

265-70-16 would be the same size or within 1/10 of an inch in width, plus they are the same height, well actually the 265-70s are a little taller
installed on a 7 inch rim with 4 inches of back spacing you'd have no issues
And as far as cutting the pinch weld out, would never do it.
When looking at costs then it comes down to can I just bolt these on or do I have to buy extras / hack away etc .
Don't see the advantage to going to 15s on a KK
If you can show me a real reason then i may change my mind
