SilverKK . . . quick question. I didn't see any pics of you connecting the harness to the positive battery terminal. The connection seems small. How did you connect it?

I am hoping to do this install this afternoon, but the kit looks decent quality. I also finished my LED's . . . blue footwells and super white license plate lights. I will post pics in the appropriate thread tonight.

Good stuff. I am a sucker for LED's.

Opps sorry for not mentioning that
I had to change the connector to a bigger one... I changed the little ring and put a bigger one so that it would fit on the positive terminal of the fuse box.
Also notice how you will use only one halogen light plug (I used the drivers side) instead of two.

ALSO DO NOTICE that these bulbs are LEFT/RIGHT side... the halogen bulb should be pointing upwards and not downward................. If both halogens are pointing down, swap them
=)
I do hope that the install goes as smooth as mine did.
Good luck and please PM me or throw me an email with any further questions

I have not had the chance to put them in yet.

How did you change the positive connector since it is part of the harness? And did you use the metal mounting brackets at all for the ballasts?

It looks like it is just a crimped connection . . . so i guess you uncrimped it and just attached a new crimp ring? Where did you get it and do u remember what size? Sorry for all the questions but I am away from my home, and I want to grab the supplies before I get back there. I am hoping to do the install tonight if my girlfriend allows me. Also gotta be home in time for the UFC throwdown tonight.

Everything is up and running, but I have flickering in the headlights. Seems only when idling. SilverKK have you seen this issue? I also could only get them to work by hooking into both stock headlights. I also don't think I have a relay, which they seemed to say would be a definite with Jeeps. Let me know what you have to say about all this, I am curious if something is not hooked in right, but it seems to be okay.

So the lights only flicker when the engine is running, as soon as I shut off the jeep, the lights are as steady as can be.

I love the lights, major improvement, but this flickering needs to stop, it is fairly noticeable when driving. SilverKK, I know you used your driver side stock connection, so if you could tell me what you did on the passenger side, with as much detail as possible, I think I can figure this thing out. I am curious if u have a relay over on the passenger side, or does the harness connect directly into the passenger ballast? I tried hooking just the harness directly into the passenger side, and it did not work, I had to take the included plug from the stock passenger side, to the ballast and that is the only way it works.

I did not had an issue with mine....
Look at the diagram Im attaching here:
Image
Look how on the lower part of the harness there's a relay.
# 1 and # 3 go to the ballast itself # 2 to your drivers side light plug and the positive terminal and "yellow" fuse box to your fuse box itself.
(my fuse box was not yellow BTW)
Is this how you did it zoso???

also my best guess is probably that they are not grounded... change your ground location to see if it works.

Well my harness actually looks a little different than that one, for one thing there are two negative leads coming off the harness. Both appear to be securely grounded. And don't you think I would have the issue even without the engine running if grounding was the issue?

Also, I took another look this morning . . . in my kit, there were two extra lengths of wire. I used these to go from the ballast to the stock headlight socket. I am thinking that I am going to try taking them out of the equation. Did you get them in your kit and simply not use them, or did you not get them at all?

Also . . . did you have any trouble with their plug fitting into the stock harness? I had to widdle down the little tab to make it fit, and it still wasn't exact.

I did not use them... I guess those are used when you need extra length on your wiring
you are right about the ground....
did you see the relay then?
double check that it is properly connected into the plug

Which part is the relay? What am I looking for? See my confusion is this . . . in the diagram you posted, #2 should go to the drivers side headlight, but it is only a two prong connection, The stock headlight is three prong. So the only way I can get it to work is to use one of the two included extra lengths of wire, which converts from two prong to three prong. Did you not do that? I am also going to check the positive connection, I think when I recrimped, it is possible it is not getting a proper connection. I am going to pull off the crimp and mash the wire against the positive terminal and see if that helps. I am on my way home to figure this out . . . so I will check back in about 40 minutes . . . your help is MUCH appreciated if I haven't said that yet.

It seem as of right now, when everything is connected, I can only get the lights to work if I go directly from the ballast to the stock plug on each side. This seems to tell me that the system is not getting proper power. When I try to hook things up the right way, I can hear the box that has everything coming out of it (i think this is the relay) crackling slightly.

THAT LITTLE BOX IS THE RELAY!!!
and It cracks every once in a while! (1 cracking sound each 5 mins or so... contacted HIDgate and he told me it was normal)
What kind of flickering do you have on your HIDS? Strobe like flickering or the kind of flickering that looks like the ballast/bulb is warming up??

My final suggestion is to throw the guy an email so that he could send you a special harness (its like that little converter wire, "the extra length wire" ) that has some capacitors that avoid the flickering... As far as I know you are doing everything ok! I dont recall using the two extra lenghts of wire... could it be possible that they changed the connection from 08 to 09???
I hardly doubt it!

Ill try to disassemble my KK's front tomorrow to take some pics.. step by step.... sorry that your install is not going as smooth as mine did.... Dont give up I can assure you that once you have those HIDS working youll be very very happy with them!

No need brother, I got everything working 100%. My suspicions about the positive connection seemed to be true, I don't think I was getting enough power. In hindsight, if I had addressed this right away, it would have been a pretty easy install. However if anyone else does this install, use this thread. The instructions included with the kit are about as clear as mud. I love the lights except for the highbeams obviously. The 'high beams' are worse than stock, and are really just little halogen bulbs that are WAY dimmer than stock. That being said, SilverKK is right, I will likely never be switching to high beams with the HIDS. Add some sort of auxillary light to my future bull bar, and I think I will be good to go.

CONGRATS ON THE INSTALL!!!!!!
and yes =) the high beams are not "high" really.... if you want to go with the bixenon kit then I can assure you that high beams will be as high as they can be!!!
Who else is ready to jump into the HID wagon???

More pics . . .

The next three are moving left to right looking at the harness. This is before I put away the wires, but I thought it might be helpful to anyone looking to do this install . . .

Connection to fuse box . . . note that I later crimped this . . . as shown, it is just a crimp ring 'crushing' the wire against the positive terminal.
