If you guys could confirm for me.... That little black box is a vapor canister isn't it? Going to need a new one or a new bracket because it blew it's mount apart. The canister itself seems to be in fine shape

So I imagine he was speeding, or you cut him off without knowing, or both. At least you're not at fault for it.

If you were already at speed, then the guy was speeding and completely at fault. Glad you're alright. And Gage is right, that is an evap canister.

No one was hurt but the other guy Had the pleasure of being handcuffed in front of his parents for possession of marijuana.

This month has been pretty bad but not that bad. Jeep still runs fine.. Heck maybe I'll get a couple new bumpers! Morgan I'm lookin at you sir!

Glad you're ok.
Make sure you secure that evap canister back in there, it's a sealed system so if any hoses come loose you'll throw a code and gasoline vapor will be released.

A lot of insurance companies won't just write you a check for the damages, they want to pay the body shop you choose. Definitely worth a shot though. I was able to have a check written to me when I got rear ended, only damage was to the plastic and came to $1100. Looks like you have more damage than I did.

Today I was bored so did some tinkering. Found out I was missing a bolt on my bug shield so I fixed that, also added a piece to my K&N heat shield to hopefully make it work a little better. Last, I took my antenna off since I don't use the radio.
Gotta pick up some oil soon for the diffs. Just gonna do them both again even though they're not really due for a few more thousand miles. I think I put in what was recommended for heavy duty in the rear, gonna switch to the other specified weight.

What did you use as your bracket? Also do you have pics of the work? Love the look.

They are probably over built using 1/4 inch steel plate for the blanking plates & mount plates, and the mounting straps are 1/8 inch steel. More details are in this post

Just did a little bit of painting

And do I have to take the diff plate off to drain the fluid out?

Yes and scrape off the old rtv, clean and reinstall with a new bead of rtv sealant. Leave the top bolt engaged till all the oil is out.

You have to remove the plate to reseal and add new fluid.

Or you can use a suction tool to suck out oil. I remove mine every other change and reseal. I also use a sealant made for diff cover not regular RTV. It's color is different and that might be all.;).

Treated my Jeep like a Jeep today! First time I've had water come under the doors into the foot well.
