Hey everyone!
I know it seems like I fell off the face of the earth seeing as I haven't posted here in a while, but I'll give ya'll the down and dirty of what I've been getting done with the ol' KK. Sorry I don't have any pictures, and will be going on vacation tomorrow, but if I remember when I get back, I will post pictures.
- Blacked out the headlight bezels. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but following the directions to a tee worked out perfectly. The black bezels really look good against the black grill, black ATH bumper and black fenders.
- Installed the hood lift strut mod. Would highly reccomend it. Installation took less than 45 minutes, and the hood opens wider and is much more stable now than the stupid rod. Not to mention when I am working in the engine compartment I no longer run the risk of bumping the thing.
- Installed the hockey puck bumpstops. I like them much better than what I had, and they have a better contact surface than the Jeepin By Al ones. Getting the bolt on the stud was kind of a PITA, but I eventually got it and cinched it down.
- Relocated my winch solenoid. I have been wanting to do this for a while but never got around to it. After the hood lift strut mod, I was motivated to get in there and run the cables. Due to the space (or lack thereof) I had very limited mounting options for the solenoid. I actually ended up mounting it to the firewall of the K&N CAI I installed several months ago. And who said they never benefited from it! ha Now The solenoid is tucked away under the hood and is more protected from the elements.
- Purchased the Cobra 75wx CB setup with the 4' Firestik out back. I love the look of it but have yet to put it to a real test. I ran the wires in a way where they are not visible whatsoever after entering the Jeep behind the tail light.
- Lastly I bought the HD cooling fan with the intentions of installation before I went on vacation, but ran into a few issues. The place I bought the fan clutch was off Amazon, and the picture listed had the clutch as well as the bolts. I thought I was getting a great deal seeing as I did not have to get the bolts seperately, but surprise surprise no bolts. There there was also no one in town (that I asked) that had the spanner wrench that could be loaned. I found one on Rock Auto and can get it for 30 bucks. That will be accomplished within the coming months.
Sorry everyone for making such a long post, but I figured I'd catch the forum up on what has been going on with my KK. One last note: It has been so nice here in SA that past few days that I actually drove around town with the doors off. It was pretty awesome.
