It's pretty exciting to have the first prototype ATH rear bumper with tire carrier, it also has a recessed hitch that I love as well. The only reason I did not get JeepMonkey190 to build me one was because I wanted a hitch in order to eventually make her an overlanding vehicle.
I've also been entertaining the idea of having a shop look into making me an auxiliary fuel tank.... *cough cough* lfhoward....

The ATH bumper with tire carrier looks awesome! And an aux fuel tank sounds like a great idea, too. Tex, if you pull it off, you'll have the first KK to do it, as far as I know. If you get it working well, you could build them and market an overlanding kit for the KK community!

That's ATH's place. Tex is working with ATH for a tire carrier. Looks good. Drivers side swing? That's different, seems most are passenger side.

Yeah, you'll see almost every swing out carrier on a wrangler pivots from the passenger side because the tailgate opens that way. Most other vehicles put it on the driver side because putting the tire closer to the driver is the least intrusive for visibility. TexasRugby's is the first one, the production version may look at little different.

Besides not blocking the view, also you swing them towards the left side ( drivers) so if you want something out of the back it doesn't swing towards the curb. I had one made like that on one of the XJs, biggest pain in the A** there ever was. Ended up removing it.

Someone needs to mass produce those tire carriers in addition to ATH's rear bumper. I'd seriously kill to have that set up.

I am willing to make them for ATH bumper owners as a bolt on or weld on if your interested. It's in my build thread
I started thinking about this idea last night about selling spare tire carriers to any thing that is wanted like add ons or center (ex. Jerry cans, high lifts, rack, center tire driver or passenger, even weld on or bolt on options) if you guys are interested just let me know and I will start working up numbers and options.

Thanks guys

Here's mine pretty much finished just missing the spare lol and the cap that goes over the bearings, and I promise I will put up more photos tomorrow

And I went with the passenger side to try to help with the leaning but I will do driver side too

What holds it open ? Can't see anything to keep it from coming back closed ??

Today I dropped my springs and shocks at a local garage to have them assembled... $30 aint too bad, although trying to explain what I needed done to the guy at the counter tested my patience. No matter how many times I told him that I already have the old assemblies off the Jeep, and I just need a simple assembly, he kept asking for the keys...

Anyway, I need to figure out what I'm doing with the A-arm pockets. How hard would it be to just bend them flat? or do I even need to do it at all? I'm just putting the OME lift + front spacer and 1 extra rear iso. No clevis (for now).

I just used a Sawzall with a short metal blase only took me a few minutes to open up the holes but I also have the full 3.5" lift

Two schools of thought on the pockets for the UCAs
One is to cut / bend and do it that way
Other is to let them self clearance, they will bend the metal down some and also what does bend over provides somewhat of a cushion.
I've done them both ways here
At times cutting out provides too much drop and causes problems on the higher lifts

Just wondering since I have 2 .....yes 2 nice dents in my tail gate when I was installing my bumper, didn't have the pin in yet and :banghead: :banghead:
Of course the KKs are a little different but the weight of the tire and carrier can almost knock you off your feet if you're not ready :ROTFL: :ROTFL:

Here is what you need. You actually have to look in the KA (Nitro) section. The KA and KK suspensions are identical.

http://jeepinbyal.com/products/kk-rear-coil-spring-isolator

I'm installing the exact same setup right now. I have the front complete, and I'm working on the rear tonight after work.

So I finished up the lift kit install tonight. Ran into an issue with an over torqued lug nut in the rear that I'll have to replace, also had the head of one of the upper sway bar link bolts snap off. I'll have to figure out what I'm going to do there. I still have half the bolt stuck in the frame of the jeep.

I had some questions about the height. I installed the OME lift plus added the 1/4" spacer plate, and added 1 extra rear iso per side. My measurements right now are reading 22" in the front, and 21.5" in the back. Is this normal? Will the front settle more than the rear? I'm thinking of adding a second isolator per side, but not if the front will settle and equalize. I do not want a raked look, nor do I want the front higher than the rear.

So OME 927 springs and 1/4" top plate up front? That's 3" of lift. You should sit at 21" from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender. You'll drop after an alignment(get that ASAP). Get it aligned and let us know where you sit.

The rear is OME 731 springs and 1 extra upper isolator per side? You should sit at 21" from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender. I run 731 springs and 2 extra isolators and sit at 21.5".

Biggest thing is to get it aligned first and let us know where she sits. Should settle a bit as well.
