SO I bought and installed the RockyRoad Rockfather. After talking with some guys at SRH Enterprises in Hudsonville, MI who do a lot of stuff with Jeep Liberty's I decided to go the cheaper route. It was on "back order" and I had to wait 2 weeks but I finally got it and it was built up. Here are some pics next to a stock KK: (mine is obviously on the left)

I am very happy with it. Yeah the back end is a little stiffer but it is not too bad. And it really improved the look and stance of the KK I think.

Did you get the Rockfather Deluxe with new OME Shocks and Springs up front? If so how is the ride? Better than stock?

As far as the Tire size: 245/75/16 I think it really is the ideal size for the lift. I get good tuck with minor rubbing but not bad.

And with the lift, I went the cheaper route and got the standard rockfather. It comes with the OME springs up front and an "over the top" strut cap. The rear has a three inch spacer and the kit comes with the RRO shocks. Honestly, the rides isnt bad, I think the front is better, but the rear you can tell has a little more of a stiffer ride when you hit bigger bumps in the road. It doesnt have as much of a forgiveness. However, this might have to do with the shocks they use. I am curious if I got Bilsteins or something if it would be better. But, it hasnt been bad enough for me to want to do anything about it. I am still very happy with the lift!

ok, so i have read this thread about 4 times Am I missing something here?? The price disparity is HUGE

Keep in mind I am not a budget shopper, I am willing to pay good money for a good product but why the large price difference between the two when they seem to offer the same components? Even if I bought new OME rear springs and did not use the spaces from the RR kit I would still be well under the JBA price??

The JBA one you are looking at is probably the adjust a strut system.

So I stumbled across this post thought I would post my experience with my RK lift, hopefully help others to decide pro or con.

I just installed this RK kit last week.

CONS: I'm not a real mechanic type guy so I personally found it pretty dang difficult to install myself. However I could see if your the kind of guy who does this a lot it, has all the right tools, this could be pretty easy. The new fork fit over the factory strut was super tight, ended up removing the strut and hammering the new forks on while the strut was in a vise grip. Removing the factory strut spring on the passenger site is pretty easy. You'll also want to remove the A arms cause with the forks the strut is now quite tall. Again really easy on the passenger site not so much on the drivers. Drivers side is cover with battery box, fuse box, worse the the steering and brake lines are right in the way of moving the A arm. All in all took me about 8-9 hours to complete the front installation. Rear was relatively a piece of cake, maybe took an hour.

I could see over time some extra wear happening as others have warned. Not too worried about it as I don't do my serious off roading in my liberty (use my YJ for that), just wanted a better look and something to handle a little more clearance for the occasional off road. But figure they are all just 10 years away from becoming that beat up jeep regardless.

PROS: Well only had it about 5 days, on the road surprisingly very smooth ride, as promised it was almost "Factory" ride. I haven't yet replaced the factory shocks in the rear. I thought for sure while installing it would have the A arm rub against the coil springs, but once in place no problems with that so far. Haven't taken it off road yet so TBD there. Does look pretty cool, has a meaner stance but not over the top. Also installed 245/75/16 cause I liked how they looked one of the threads someone posted. Even makes my factory wheels look cool which I didn't think they did before. I don't have any rubbing (on road). I could have probably got away with even a bit larger tire, but I'm happy with how these look. Photo below:

[quote="Jeepin_it_real"]i got mine in the works too.... should have it soon... also changing the shocks to the bilsteins off the JBA website( front(stock) and back(2.5" of lift),quote]

im thinking about doing the same thing, but i was wondering why your able to keep stock sized shocks in the front and not rear? if you were to put larger shocks in the front would it have and disadvantages or advantages?

The Rock Krawler lift gives you two parts:

Extended "fork" (clevis) for the front, which attaches to the bottom of the front strut/spring attachment.

This is the portion that raises up the front... you can see the clevis in this picture (the black fork below the red spring/shock assembly):

http://i806.photobucket.com/albums/yy341/linewarbr/Jeep%20Lift/Lift13.jpg

The 2nd part of the lift is just a "puck" or spacer that you add on to your rear coil springs. The rear suspension is set up the following way:

http://image.fourwheeler.com/f/9549802+w750+st0/129_0509_06_z+2004_jeep_liberty+rear_shocks.jpg

So if you add a puck under the rear coil spring it will raise up your vehicle more, but you'll need to change your shocks out or they will overextend pretty quickly (as they are only built for the stock height).

Really look at how the fork they provide looks as far as how it attaches etc. cheap is the best word

Remdawg is right, front sits below the shock not really extending it, rear causes the shock to extend longer. Personally I kept my stock rear shocks, but I suspect I will eventually need to get a longer ones. No ill effects immediately though by using the stock one, that I can tell anyway.

thank you for clarifying, i was thinking about buying bilstein replacement shocks all around after reading an earlier post but instead i'll save some money and just go with replacing the rears! also i was jus wondering if you know any other ways to improve on the RK lift, such as replacing the springs or anything like that.

If your thinking of adding new springs to a Rock Krawler lift, it might just be better to get the OME springs and new struts/shocks, and skip the RK.

Ehh, if your wanting to replace more than the shocks, defeating the purpose of the RK lift which is price. Might as well spend a bit more and go with one of the better lift options.
