I couldn't even read thru that "report". I hate it when an author writes like he/she knows what he/she is talking about. I stopped when they started the misinformation about ROM (Roll Over Mitigation). They stated that is is "NEW" for 2008 and that previous KJs couldn't get it "at any price". Hummm, my 2006 came with all that standard...ESP,ROM,BA,TC and ABS. I wish these guys/gals would do the proper research before they put erroneous facts in print.

With the 2008 Jeep Liberty, most of the glaring failings of the outgoing model have been addressed, but we're not sure that the combination of these improvements and aggressive pricing is enough in this market anymore.

The glairing failings??? Best selling SUV in its segment every year running...

If it's not a Honda or Toyota, Edmunds won't like it.

Of more pressing concern to Jeep than aesthetics, however, has been an improvement in the Liberty's stability on the road...

We anticipate the '08 Liberty will do at least as well now...

There is so much slop in the new suspension tuning that it is anything but more stable. I'd much rather put up with the harshness of the KJ ride than deal with the numb and unstable steering and handling characteristics of the KK.

A new five-link rear axle and new wishbone-type independent front suspension certainly do improve both ride and handling. The 2008 Liberty doesn't feel as tippy or truculent as the old model.

Ride yes. Handling no. The KJ's suspension is a little over-sprung. At highway speeds, however, the KJ is far more stable than the loosy-goosy KK. KJ's tracking is vastly superior (much better on-center steering feel) and yaw pitch is far less pronounced during cornering and emergency maneuvers.

I'd like to know the last time this "expert" drove a KJ. Hell, I'd like to know whether he even drove the KK. From his write-up, I doubt he has. It sounds more like he wrote his review from bullet points given to him from a Chrysler PR hack.
