In the Selec-Trac II description from Jeep's web site, it states that when a tire begins to slip, the system distributes the torque to the tires with traction... And that transference is accomplished by the brake traction control system. Finally, it states that "under the right conditions, the Liberty can be driven by one wheel".

My question is, What is the advantage over Select Trac I?

Couldn't that (be driven by one wheel) be done by a KJ '06+ with Select Trac I and traction control?

It sounds very similar to me.

From what I've seen and heard, the differences are minor. Like it splits the torque slightly differently than the Selec-Trac I. Something like a 65/35 split instead of 60/40... or whatever the actual numbers are. At any rate, I doubt you could tell much difference by feel and they both seem to perform about the same off-road.

Does the transfer case for the ST-II lock when you go into 4-low?
(I heard it doesn't but can't seem to find any solid info)

I thought it had the ability to shift torque front and read on its own.

In 4low the front and rear axles are locked together.
