Hello everyone, Names Joe and I was lucky enough to be turned onto LOST KJ from someone over on the jeepforum.com site. This site reminds me of my home on mazda-speed.com when I had my mazdaspeed miata. Yes its a big change going from a sports car to an SUV but so far I love this new KK.... except its gas mileage but I hope that improves with time. I just got it back yesterday when I had factory skids and a hitch installed. Now I'm ready to roll. |

Welcome to the site. I am glad to see owners of the KK finding us. You all are the ones who will be experimenting and those of us with KJs will be watching to see what is done. Again welcome to L.O.S.T. |

If it is any consolation, my 06 Liberty got about 27mpg highway going from ABQ to Houston yesterday. It seems like the 3.7 loosens up at 10k miles. Don't worry, you'll get there. Congrats on getting one. |

My KJ is a 6 speed and I left the AC off and did the speed limit. I guess I got lucky. Anyway, I dig my Libby. |

I call bullcrap on that one. lol Unless you're driving downhill with a tailwind, there's no way a Liberty can get 26 mpg. I guess in theory you could get 26 mpg. Remove the skid plates, remove the front driveshaft, take off the spare tire, pull out all the seats, install an air intake and a less restrictive exhaust, install 3.21 gears, remove all the interior panels, cut off one of your legs... Maybe, just maybe you could pull off 26 mpg. If you really are getting 26 mpg, are you one of those people who set the cruise at 55 on the highway? |

Maybe the mpg gods smiled on me that day. Or I drove nice that day. Who knows? Who cares? |

Some people will see those false advertisements, buy a Liberty, complain when they don't get the gas mileage they thought they were going to get, and then force Jeep to make cars like the Compass and the Patriot. |

umm i had a topic about it, i posted pics of my evic while driving. I drove about 3 hours round trip almost all highway and got about 26mpg average and also had above 3/4 tank of gas left after 200+km of driving. I have no reason to lie so i dont see why you feel the need to call me one and its not appreciated |

It may be possible, but it's really unrealistic. The Liberty is a 4,300-pound tank and it simply does not get good gas mileage. Sure, you can make the EVIC read higher in isolated situations. I could post pictures of my EVIC reading 99.9 MPG coming down the back side of the mountain, but is that really an accurate representation of the vehicle's overall gas mileage? Anyway, I'm not going to argue about gas mileage anymore--seems kind of lame. I'm sorry for starting a stupid argument, and I'm sorry if I offended you... Maybe I'm just a tad upset because I'm lucky if I get 20 mpg on the highway. [/stupid gas mileage argument] |

Ryan, my KJ didn't get very good mileage at all, I was very disappointed in it, especially driving it around town. The gas mileage sucked. However, I firmly believe that the fuel mileage that I was getting is the result of the additives in the gasoline we have to purchase here in California. This past year, on 3 occasions, I filled up with gas here in Merced, CA and drove across highway 88 to Fallon, Nevada. Each time I arrived there, I had very little gas left, the guage was nearly on empty. On the return trip, I would fill up with Nevada gas, drive back the exact same route and would have well over 1/4 take of gas left when I arrived here. So far, it appears that my new KK is getting a lot better mileage. |

its not isolated though lol. 3 hour round trip, reset the evic before i left, and let it be and looked at it when i arrived home from the trip and thats what it read. I traveled at about 65mph 90% of the drive |

30 mpg day in day out for over 4 years and 69.000 Miles, you only need to stick 3 little letters on the back. CRD |

I can't believe we are arguing about mpg on a Jeep forum. Just not right. |

While I saw over 21 (Calculated, not EVIC) mpg with MTRs on the highway this weekend, I feel that using the cruise will inhibit fuel economy, no matter the speed. The engine will down shift if you exceed your cruise speed, and it will mash the throttle when you are below... Keeping a constant throttle at or around 60 mph will earn me mid-20's easy. I suppose a new KK could make that, especially on stock wheels if it had the 3.21 (I think some have those) gear set. |
