Post subject:  KK Radio removal

Has anyone checked the specs of KK radio, and the connections in the back? If I were to get a KK (not that I would at this point, especially before paying my KJ off) would it be easy to replace the stock radio? I don't think I would do the same mistake and pay extra for "premium sound" system..

EDIT: It looks like premium sound on KK costs only $395, not bad.. But still, I would like to know if it was easy to replace?

Post subject:  Circut City??? or Best Buys??

My brother last year bought a POS Ford F-250 after totalling his nice one Drove it into Nose first ito a agriculturer well out in Colorado farm coutry. Even the Colorado State Trooper pulled out his Cell Phone to take pictures of it looking like the Cadillac verion of Stone hendge. Anyway the new POS used truck had a real lame radio, to my surprise my brother (So Tight He Squeeks When He Walks ) Went to Circut City and got a real Primo Radio with one of the satilight options included. If your leery of the Stealerships Radio Options check out Circut City or Best Buys, they install also.

it is not as easy as you think... due to the radio being tied in with the ecm via the can network, you need a can adapter to make ever thing peachy....as far as the adapter, i don't know if they are out yet, but i will look

Do no buy stereo from Circuit City or Best Buy. They will mess up everything, and charge you for every single piece. Unless you have someone you can trust %100 with a lot of experience and someone who won't jack up the price.

Otherwise, Crutchfield says many of the radios they've got fits KK, the problem is the wiring. It also probably depends on which radio you got.

The nice thing about BB/CC is that you can get the service plan. it sucks when your new $400 head unit dies after a year, and there's nothing you can do. However, I'd rather deal with a locally owned shop if I were to pay someone else to install my stuff.

How much does the service plan cost? With all the other added expense, I would throw my 1 year old busted radio and get a new one, instead of paying double the price. Most of the new HUs come with 2YR warranty, which BB/CC won't tell you. And you can still buy extended warranty from other places.

Crutchfield always supplied an adapter harness when I bought my head unit from them in the past. Call them and find out if they have one for the KK yet.
