| Post subject: | Trail Rated Badge |
Just picked up a new 08 Limited 4X4 on Wednesday, I noticed I do not have a Trail Rated badge on the left side by the drivers door. Could the dealer have possibly taken it off?? |

I don't know why they would but I'd be sure to ask about it. |

Yeah it seems odd. I'm gonna ask when I take it back for my plates to be put on. |

I'm sure that's not a dealer installed emblem, it's factory installed. Taken from the Jeep Liberty web site: Jeep - 2008 Liberty - Capability - Performance - SUV - Sport Utility Vehicle Jeep® Trail Rated® A Jeep® Trail Rated® badge is found on all 4x4s that pass a series of grueling tests designed to prove off-road capability on the world’s most demanding terrain. There are five main categories of testing: Water Fording, Traction, Ground Clearance, Maneuverability and Articulation. (Note: 4x4 and the Trail Rated badge are available features) |

Its not that big a deal, its just weird seeing other peoples KK's with trail rated badges and not having one... LOL |

It is possible that yours is NOT trail rated...not all 4X4s go through those specific testings. some are just plain ol' 4x4s. |

Says who?? All jeep 4x4 vehicles with 4 LO are "Trail Rated" hence the ad campaign a few years back...."If it's not Trail Rated, it's not a Jeep 4x4." If you really want the badge, Quadratec sells em pretty cheap but Im sure the dealer would get you one too... |

Two things distinguish the Trail rated Jeeps from other Jeeps with 4 wheel drive. They are ground clearance and low range. When they first started the Trail rated marketing campaign, one version of the Grand Cherokee did not get the badge because of it's 4 wheel drive system. It's the one that is full time and has no low range (Quadradrive maybe?) And now the Patriot and the Compass come with 4 wheel drive options but the Compass and the Patriot with Freedom Drive I do not get the badge, only the Freedom Drive II version which has low range gearing and an inch more ground clearance. Edit: I just looked at Quadratec and they want $29.99 for the frickin badge! Go back to the dealer and make them put it on for free! |

I'm 4x4 with no trail rated badges....man. I got jipped!!! LOL....I just thought that some go through the testing and others don't...so I stand corrected. Maybe they started the campaign after 2003?? anyone know? so all the 4x's are trailrated eh? cool....damnit...NOW I want the badge...I didn't want to be a poser since it didn't come that way from the factory. LOL |

Mine doesn't have it either, and it's a '08 Limited. Maybe the Sport has it but the Limited doesn't? Is it a badge to just make it look tougher, as the Sport model? They're identical 4x4 systems, for Sport and Limited...what gives? |

LMAO The badge is simply this...
If you think this makes a Liberty look "tougher" then knock yourself out... |

Could be a couple of reasons, Center hub extends to or beyond the sidewall outer edge making them vulnerable, sidewall is shorter on the tires for these rims making rim damage more likely. I don't believe 18" rims were offered on any model KJ. only 16" and 17" |
