It's really slick today and I slid around the corner going about 7-8mph and hit a curb... boy was I surprised at the damage to my wheel.
Thats a 4 in long portion of my wheel and lip. Surprised it still held air. So I called the stealership to see how much a new one is and to get sticker shock but I didn't. $220 for OEM rims?!? maybe them being soo darn cheap is part of their problem. |

I got all 5 of my rims for $220,granted they are steel but at least if I bend the bead lip I can pound it out instead of buying a new rim(have done this a few times before, once on my KJ). |

I'll get a picture of the whole wheel once the tire is removed tomorrow. I would just buy different rims but since its a lease I don't want to get dinged for it when my lease is up. I will however be looking for a complete set of steelies and tires for next winter season as these stock Crappyear tires aren't the best. I'm still surprised at the extent of the damage though. I had a 96 Ford Probe before this and I did the same thing (me being young and dumb |

haha "curb ran out in front of me" I used that excuse for running into a door knob this morning while our class was running stairs. I should have known better, I usally slide around a little on that corner but I wasn't expecting it to be that darn bad. Here's a close up of the rim:
Back up and running... $240 later... oh well stinky poo happens. |

Just wondering how they could possibly warrenty a broken rim, since he ran into the curb,,concret vs aluminum----concret will always win.If anything insurance would be the way to go if the deductable was low enough.

The tires is a road hazard warrenty, the OEM rims are next to impossible to get warrentied, heck you can't even get them warrentied if the clear coat peels off.Now aftermarket rims are different ballgame, but I doubt hitting a curb is warrentiable from anywhere since that is not anytype of workmanship flaw, that's totally your fault for hitting a curb not the manufacturer's.

Diggerfreek wrote: ok found it... Its an add on plan to the maximum care warranty package Is that for the OEM or your aftermarket rims/tires?
as stated: complete or prorated tire replacement coverage for the 4 tires installed on your vehicle and wheel replacement up to 4 times 100% flat repair coverage no deductible $200 max reimbursement per occurrence $200 max per occurrence, heck that doesn't even cover the cost of 1 OEM rim with the added cost of a new valve stem, mounting and balancing, not to mention about 75% of the time when you ruin a rim you ruin the tire to so add that to the price also.Granted $200 off is nice though. And what about the spare? Must be for your aftermarket rims otherwise it would be for all 5 tires/rims. |

only 4 tire/rims...spare not included.... when i got the kk, they already knew that i was getting different rims on it.. the only reason i got the extra upgrade was because it did cover any oem or after market tire and rim |

Oh if it's not a warrenty from Jeep have fun getting them to cover the cost, aftermarket warrenties are a ripoff. |

'tis only a scratch!
it's funny that you mention the '96 Probe, because I did the same thing with my mom's when I was 16...only it was nowhere near as innocent...and it wasn't just a wheel:P But I think this experience has told you that you need bigger rubber and a lift. Too bad it's a lease |
