So last week I pulled into a parking spot, and was getting my things out of the center console while the truck was still running, and in park. All of the sudden, all the lights went out, and the rpms dropped to zero, it stayed there for about 3 seconds, then the lights came back on, and the rpms and motor got back up to idle. Also, I was driving at a stead 35 mph and the Jeep started jerking like it was trying to stall or like it was slipping in and out of gears. It wasn't violent, but deffinatly noticeable. I describe it like a first time stick driver would go back and for on the gas and clutch created that forward backward forward backward type motion. Anyone else had this problem in there KK? |

oh no... you caught the nitro virus!!!!! Last i knew, Dodge issued what was called the G25 recall :The TIPM was reprogrammed on all nitros and wranglers built before jan 22, 2007.... I think its time to go to the dealer |

nope, never had a problem like that but if it does that slipping all the time at that speed I would take it in. Try this, next time its slipping reach down and hit the tow/haul button. That will take the tranny out of overdrive mode... it maybe helpful if you narrow it down for the mechanics. |

i think the kk has the same tranny as the kjs after 2005... i have that slipping problem. at 35MPH the torque converter has locked but its not in 4th or O/D yet, so hitting the tow/haul button will do nothing; the auto tranny goes into O/D at 40 and above. its just a natural thing for our tannies... if you want, take it to the dealer and have the transmission reprogramed, but like i said its totally normal and im on tranny number 2 going on 3... it still does it |

I just hope that its nothing serious, I am leaving this Thursday morning for a snowboarding trip to NC for 5 days. Nothing will ruin a snowboarding / asking your gf to marry you vacation, like a broken down new vehicle. *Knock on Wood* Thanks for the info guys, I'll make sure to get it into the dealer ASAP |

Good luck. I can tell you that it is something that usually can not be reproduced . most nitro owners experienced it one or two times over a 6 month period. GOOD LUCK WITH THE GF |

believe me, the KK doesn't shift anything like the KJ at all. I had an 04 KJ and that torque convertor lock up used to drive me batty. My KK doesn't act or drive like the KJ at all. I've got about 7,000 miles on my KK and haven't experienced any problems like Renny describes. Maybe it's just the jitters before he pops the big question |

03 and up they all have the same tranny. Regardless of how you say it shifts now in the 08, its still the same tranny in there, maybe a different torque converter. |

I'm not saying that it's a different transmission. All I am saying is that it does not shift the same at all. It's totally different. Personally, I disliked the way my 04 shifted, but I like the way my 08 shifts. I have no idea if it's a different torque covertor or not. I know on my 04, the transmission seemed to shift into OD at about 40 MPH. If I needed to acelerate, it seemed that I would have to push the acelerator pedal almost all the way to the floor and it would seem to hesitate a bit before downshifting. My KK seems to shift to OD, but maybe not at the exact same time/point/speed as the KJ. And if I need to downshift, it seems to do that a lot easier or quicker than the KJ. Aceleration in the KK seems a bit stronger than the KJ also. Yes, same engine, same transmission, but it just seems to be stronger when taking off from a stop. I really don't know how to explain all this. You should go to your Jeep dealer and take a test drive. You'll see the difference immediately. I'm sure it's probably all just a matter of the way they have the computer and/or transmission tuned/programmed. |

ive test driven many and while yes the kk shifts smoother, the kk behaves a lot like the kj. i can still feel the lock up torque converter at 30-35mph and moderate acceleration with the torque converter locked does produce the same intermitten jerking/viabration that my kj does. just like the kj it dosent do it all the time, only when just enough throttle is applied. hell my pt cruiser gt did the same jerking/viabration at 35mph, that is why i conclude that some trannies built by chrysler that have lock up torque converters produce this viabration, which is why dealers and my own personal mechanic for the pt cruiser gt say "its normal on some chrysler trannies with lock up torque converters..." you have to have the throttle just right to get it to do it... i think its a combo of it locking up relatively early and low in the engines powerband and possibly poor design of the torque converter lock-up clutch damper |

Nothing like that yet with 4400 miles on it. |
