We just got back from a 40 mile trip towing the boat for the first time. It did a great job and was better on the highway then I expected. I cruised at about 68 miles per hour with the tow/haul mode on and the rpms were about 3200. The boat is a 21 Polar center console, with a 150 four stroke, t-top, dual batteries and 97 gallons of fuel. I figure with the trailer the total weight is around 4500lbs. Also, I had no problems on the boat ramp. |

awesome!! How was your gas milage with that tow haul? What about using the tow haul when you are getting up to speed, and then when you set the cruise control switching off the tow/haul....wouldn't that get better milage? If you tried that, tell us how it worked! Congrats on your first trip with the boat, lets see some pics!!!!! |

According to the EVIC the gas mileage on the highway was about 15 or so. Although, I think it was closer to 14. Even though we have 0 hills in south florida, we have some very steep bridges that go over the ICW. Oh yeah, I was trying to activate the trailer sway control to see how it worked when the trailer was empty but I could not get it to bite. I believe it only kicks in under extreme conditions. |

I towed my 20 foot ski boat this weekend for the first time and it seemed to do very well. got about 3500-4000 lbs. Going up hills isn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. Not as fast as my 04 F150 did but it does it very well for a small SUV. I do like towing with the liberty much better then my 07 JK wrangler since its lifted and set up for trails. Good braking power too for a small SUV since my trailer doesn't have brakes. Must say i cant wait to see how it does on my travel trailer later this month when its loaded up with about 6000 lbs. with the weight dist. hitch. And having a brake controller put on. I will give u guys a update when i get home from my trip in april. |

I wouldnt be towing over 5k with the 42rle. Its over worked as it is. Also, its not a good idea to use O/D when towing. Leave the tow/haul on to save the tranny. Any extra shifting is not good at all. Limit the tranny to second gear on long/big hills if its needed. |
