Has anyone had this issue:

2008 KK Limited

After stopping the car (put in park, turn off ignition, removed keys, etc) the power door locks sometimes don't work. Like, I stop the Jeep, put it in Park and turn off the ignition. I use the power lock as opposed to the alarm lock - I always have because I think the horn is just unnecessary sound pollution. Anyway, sometimes the lock button doesn't work. The button design on them is garbage to begin with (small, stiff button that doesn't make any firm click or movement to let you know you just pushed a button), so I'm not sure if it's a physical problem (maybe button bearly has enough travel to engage the electronic switch), a programming problem (no idea how this could be), or a short/wiring/bad switch problem.

At first, it seemed like I just didn't push the button hard enough (like I said, the design is of remarkably low quality), so I pushed again and it worked. This has gone on since day 1 but the second press usually works. Well, I finally decided to dig in a bit deeper. It just did it to me so I tried again. I locked and unlocked, pressing the lock buttons repeatedly and POOF - stopped working all together. Neither unlock OR lock would function!! WTF?? I reached over to the passenger door (inside the vehicle) to use the unlock button on that door. It DID work, but just a few times. I unlocked and then locked the doors (3 or 4 times) and POOF - NO buttons work. So, I started the car back up and turned it off and the buttons work again.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I suppose it could be the button, but this occured on both the drivers and passengers side. Also, it wasn't just the "lock" button, it was both the "lock" and "unlock".. I'm going to give it a little while. The transmission still has the shudder/slam problems so I'll probably wait unil about 3,000 miles then take it in...

Not that this helps with your primary problem, but it is very easy to disable the horn chirp when you lock the doors via the remote. With a Limited, I think you can control that setting through the EVIC. I have a Sport, which doesn't have the EVIC, but it was really a 10 second procedure to turn it off.

Kinda related - I did have to have the switch for the power windows replaced recently, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if the lock switch might need to be replaced.

Good point, you are correct. I had forgotten but I now remember you can disable the chirp in the personal settings of the EVIC or whatchamacallit... If you disable the chirp and you're too far away you can't hear the locks.. I'm paranoid so that would drive me crazy.. I tried again when I got home and it worked so-so.. It almost seems like it's a digital control.. Like when you push the button it sends a command to a powered switch. I don't even know if they do that on the Jeep, but that's what it feels like. It's like Windows is the OS for the power locks... Heh..

I only have a problem with my rear driver side door when its cold. You can hear it try to unlock but it flips out and locks/unlocks in rapid succession. Doesn't sound like the problem you have thou.

Mind telling the procedure for disabling the chirp on the sport? I came from an explorer sport, 1 hit of the lock button would lock, the second would cause the chirp, which I really liked. I just don't like the chirp on the first time, especially when I am getting home from work at 12:30am and don't want to bother the neighbors.

Hope this helps.

From pp22-24 of the Owner's Manual:

Sound Horn with Lock
This feature will cause the horn to chirp when the doors are locked with the transmitter. This feature can be turned on or turned off. To change the current setting, proceed as follows:
For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, perform the following steps:
1. Press the Lock button on a programmed (i.e. functional) transmitter for at least 4 seconds, but no longer than 10 seconds. Then, press the Panic button while still holding the Lock button.
2. Release both buttons at the same time.
3. Test the feature from outside the vehicle by pressing the Lock button on the transmitter.
4. Repeat these steps if you want to return this feature to its previous setting.
NOTE: Pressing the Lock button on the transmitter while you are inside the vehicle will activate the Security Alarm. Opening a door with the Security Alarm activated will cause the alarm to sound. Press the Unlock button to deactivate the Security Alarm.

Flash Lights with Lock

What?!?!?! You mean reading that thing actually tells you something?

Thanks for the instructions, guess I either missed that part or ignored it because it wasn't bothering me yet.
