Anyone know the Mopar oil filter part number for the KK?

Also looking for the dimensions of the filter, thread size, etc. and how much room is there for the filter/Could a longer one fit in stock location?

Help?

I normally change my own oil, but I'm bringing the 08 to the dealer Friday for first oil change. Besides, I've heard it's a pain in the butt with skids.

I can ask them to save me the filter, if you'd like?

If you can just get dims off it and the Mopar part number that would be great. No sense having to haul it around but thanks for the offer.

the K&N hp-2009 fits like a glove. With the one inch nut on there, the wrench fits perfect between the rack and the oil filter.. and yes, its a pain with the front skid

Nice attitude. :?

I don't own a KK so I don't have an owners manual. Do You own a KK or have an owners manual? Why even respond in here if not? Thanks for Your help.

I am asking because I was told there is a difference in the oil filters of the KK 3.7L and the KJ 3.7L. I am only trying to find out what that difference is.

it's the same filter.

I'm not sure about the Mopar part number and size, but a Fram PH3600 fits the 02 through 08 Liberty.

It is Part Number PH3600

Product Type Full-Flow Lube Spin-on

Anti-Drain Valve YES
Product Height 4.92"
Product I.D. 3/4-16 Thread
Product O.D. 2.98"
Relief Valve Setting PSI 12

Well the reason for this inquiry is because of me. I went to the dealer to get a oil change because of a $17.95 oil/lube/tire rotation special. I used Amsoil 5w20 and brought my amsoil filter the EAO34. Eventually I got an overhead page for me to come to the service dept and the service rep told me the tech said the filter does not fit. I said that's weird because it's the same engine as the 2007 and this is the correct filter per Amsoil rep/website. He looked up the p/n for 2007 and then 2008 and they were 2 different p/n. He then called up the parts dept to verify and they said yes they are 2 different p/n but never mentioned if they were different dimensions.

So I don't know if the dimensions are different or if they changed things around so that it doesn't fit or the tech/service dept are idiots

Here's the p/n from the manual: Mopar 5281090 There's no dimensions so can't help you there. I will try and call a different parts dept soon to figure it out or go to some other dealer to see if they can fit it on next oil change. So in the end I just had them install the Mopar filter with the Amsoil. I mean for 17.95 you can't beat that price...

And when/if we determine for certain that the EAO34 won't fit, I will be exchanging them for the correct Ea series filter. I just need to make sure which filter it needs. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was a mid-run change and some KK's have the old filter while new ones have a different number.

Thanks for the help so far folks.

Ok, if that manual part number is correct then the KK uses the same filter as an XJ. Number EAO42 or Wix number 51085.

I have one of those on my shelf so I can send it out.

So is it EAO42 or EAO34? Because when I ordered 6 of them from you, you sent me the EAO34 and according to Amsoil's website it's EAO34. The Wix is also 51516 according to the amsoil website when I put in 2008 Jeep Lib 3.7L. I'm so confused...

Well, I went by the same online info you went by and figured there was no way they would have changed the oil filter for the 3.7L between the years. (stupid Jeep)
I used the online cross reference feature to run the Mopar number and came up with the EAO42 filter. I have sent a message to our tech dept. to verify this as best as we can and let them know to update their online guide.

Don't worry about the 6 filters, I will gladly exchange those for you. I can always use the EaO34's on my KJ's And I will send you 6 of the correct filters. I will eat the cost difference And the shipping charges as that is just how I do business. None of this mixup was your fault so it won't cost you anything. I'll be in touch as soon as I get a warmer, fuzzier feeling about what you need.

No worries...I wasn't trying to put blame on you if that's how you felt. I'm glad to pay shipping charges or we could split the cost of the shipping charges. just send me a PM once we get it all figured out...I'm good for another 5000 miles or so since I just got the oil change. I may need to order more oil though! I'll pm you about that when we get things figured out!

I don't know why you guys are screwing around with different oil and filters...Why don't you just take it to the dealer and get it serviced and be done with it. They are always sending out coupons, specials, etc. for oil changes and you can't beat the price or do it any cheaper yourself.

Did you read my post at all? I DID TAKE IT TO THE DEALER! They are the ones saying the amsoil filter doesn't fit. THEY are the ones saying there's a new p/n to the KK. I'm just trying to get the right filter so that I can have a good filter with my good synthetic oil. We all thought the KJ filter amsoil filter would work on the KK but it may not. Isn't that what this forum is for, to ask questions and get answers?

Personally, I would never take my Jeep to the dealer for routine maintenance. It is amazing how often most will try to screw you over and or sell you stuff you don't need....Or, tell you they performed work that they never did. I don't have time to waste dealing w/ the Stealership. I don't blame anyone for taking advantage of a low priced oil change but Beware the rest of what they try to sell you and make sure they performed any other repairs they say they performed and you paid for.

Unfortunately, John91C has had to find out the hard way that the EAO34 filter for the 02-07 Liberty 3.7L is not the same one that fits the 08 Libertys. We are working the issue to make sure what does fit and get it taken care of.

I Thank John for his patience in dealing with this and helping me work out what the KK uses. In the end, anyone that reads this thread will have learned something. THAT is what This forum is for.

Had my oil changed at the dealer today.

Invoice says VO23 for the filter... not sure if that helps or confuses things!

that's pretty strange. Fram, Hastings, K&N, and others all have the same filter for 2002 thru 2008 3.7L Liberty, and from what I see, their dimensions are all very close to each other. It's strange that the Amsoil filter would be different and not fit. I'm wondering how hard the tech at the dealer tried to make it work? Maybe he was having a bad day and didn't want to fool with a non-Mopar filter? Very strange.
