Post subject:  Sirius Question

What are you all paying after your free trial period runs out???? I know on my Element I owned after my XM free trial period ran out ,some on the E board were getting XM ,after alot of hasseling over the phone for it, like $79/year. Some were able to do that and some couldn't get it at that rate. Just wondering what any of you have experienced with Sirius and there prices. Thanks!

Not sure about a factory unit but when I added Sirius to my aftermarket deck in my other car it was $12 a month. Whether or not they cut you a deal I don't know.

Silver Fox, what is your trial period, 12 months? I ask because with the Sirius/XM merger things could look very different this time next year, so it's hard to say where things will be re: pricing. What I've heard is prices will be held more or less where they are for the next while, but look for the introduction of cafeteria pricing (no more flat-rate subscriptions, you'll be able to choose music only channels or sports or news only channels.

None of this is confirmed of course, the dust will take a while to settle. My bet - and the common wisdom - is that if anything prices will probably go up slightly in the mid-term, which could be just the time your 12-month trial period ends.

The situation in Canada is even more confused, but looks like the status quo will remain for now as Sirius Canada and XM Radio Canada are technically separate entities from their American counterparts. If I was in the U.S. though I might give some consideration to trying to get a break on a 12 month subscription, to start after my 12 month trial period. Paying for it now should mean I'd avoid any price increase next year (but don't quote me on that).

Pricing for XM and Sirius is locked in for the next two years. That was part of the deal that allowed them to merge, so they couldn't gouge.
