Post subject:  2009 KK Information

I hadn't seen this information before, excuse if it's already been posted. http://www.allpar.com/trucks/jeep/liberty-2008.html

There is a long article about the KK itself, but has information about the 2009 model. To save everyone looking it up, here is the info on the '09s:

Quote:
The 2009 Jeep Liberty was retuned with rear axle and shafts, steering gear, springs, shocks, brakes, and anti-roll bars all getting tweaks. Floor mats and auto unlock became standard; the usual satellite radio option was added; and equipment packages were changed around. The Limited model was considerably enhanced to make the extra cost well worth it, with remote express-open front windows and, in Jeep’s words, “soft-touch door uppers, all monochrome/dark gray interior, soft door armrest, leather-wrapped shift knob, dual in-mold film for instrument panel and console and leather-wrapped parking brake, steering wheel and grab handles.”

For 2009, manual transmissions were dropped; but Sirius Radio and six speakers are standard on Sport, floor mats are standard across the board, and YES Essentials cloth seats are in the Popular Equipment Group for Sport. Two new colors, orange and deep-water blue, replace electric and modern blue. The overwhelming majority of Libertys sold were the Sport model; the tweaks to the Limited may have been an attempt to increase high-end sales by making it more worthwhile.

All in all I'm pretty underwhelmed. I guess I'd have to see the new Limited interior to know if I should have waited a year, but personally I don't mind the hard plastic. In a way it's more Jeep-like. If I had wanted soft armrests, leather-wrapped everything I would have gone with another Buick. As it was I picked a Limited only because I wanted all of the gadgets. :)

x2, that sucks. I am one of those people that really does not enjoy driving vehicles with autos. I enjoy stirring the gears and having the extra control that a manual gives you.

Dropping the manual transmission seems pretty bizarre for a Jeep. True, mine is an auto and I don't even drive manual, but to not even offer it???

But how many Soccer Moms do you know that can drive a stick?
How many did they sell really anyways with the stick, not many overall.

I've only seen one KJ in person with a stick. it was a trashed '05 Sport with 60k miles, and it was just in god-awful shape. poor thing.

so the only vehicles in the kks class that you can still get a manual in is the hummer h3 and the nissan xterra and the fj cruiser

it is sad they dropped the manual, im really glad i got mine while i could. The six speed was the main selling point for me, i dont think i would have bought it with out one. It draws attention cause it is a rare find up here.

I'm digging my 6-speed too. Sales guy at the dealer said he was surprised how many people come in looking for a manual trans. I wonder if Jeep will offer it again in coming years? Maybe behind a 5.7 HEMI....

The same VMMotori 2.8L that's been used in the Liberty since 2004. It doesn't meet US Emissions Regulations, that's why it's not offered here.
