Post subject:  Thinking about joining the club
I'm going to take a look at a 2008 6-speed liberty tomorrow. I have always owned 4x4s (Fords) and my last truck was a lifted Ranger FX4.

Recently I needed a SUV and I currently work for Ford. I wanted a manual trans and a 4x4 which ford does not make in a Escape. So, I went with a 5-speed FWD. I like the truck alot but it just doesn't fit with what I needed.....well, wanted. Then I saw the huge rebates from Dodge and that the Liberty comes with a 6-speed 4x4 and also, it's the last year for the 6-speed. So, I'll take a ride tomorrow to look at one. Is there any advise before I walk into the dealer? Did anyone recently buy one so I could get a idea on what they are going for new these days? Thanks

Good choice. Wish I could have had one...A choice that is.
Advice, Get them to throw in as much as possible. Skids, Slushmats (WI winter is coming.) and the tow package for sure. See if they will take the tires ( Wrangler SR-A) back, and get something that works for the mid-west. THese tires suck in rain! I don't know if they will do that, but anything is worth a try.
As far as what to look for, I haven't had any problems.

Yeah, I'll be the worse kind of customer..... somebody who wants a truck but does not NEED one. It'll have to be a great deal for me to move on one but I think that with how the dealers around here are doing (Dodge/Jeep is one of the hardest hit) that I will get a steal.
