Just finished - Revtek 2" lift with 265/75R16 on my kk

Hey folks. Been lurking for a little bit.

I decided to put a lift on my 08 Liberty after reading a few posts here. I've only had the kk for about 3 weeks now. Barely turned 400 miles and decided to lift it. I went with the 2" Revtek and, based on some info from various forums (including this one) decided to go with a 265/75R16 on the factory rims and hope for the best. I went with the Goodyear Silent Armor - very nice tire!! Fitment is great - a bit close to the upper A-arms, but not touching. There is actually no rubbing under normal driving conditions. Harder cornering and big bumps get the occasional rub, but I will remedy that this weekend with some trimming on the inner splash guards.

As far as install on the kit - the "2 hour install" time advertised is a bit unreasonable unless you have all tools lined up and ready go, jeep up on jack stands, spring compressors ready to go and at least one other person helping. I am not a master mechanic, however I am very mechanically inclined as is my brother who helped (and has owned and heavily modified jeeps for 25 years) and there is no way we could have done it in 2 hours. It took us about 30 minutes for the rears. The fronts, however, took about 3 hours. Heck - disassembling and removing the airbox, battery, battery tray and fuse box holder took a good 20-30 minutes. I have tackled far more complicated lifts than this! Anywho....

The ride on the new tires is great - actually as quiet if not quieter than the factory tires. Only issue I am having is the ESP is briefly flashing on. I am guessing that it is due to misalignment after the lift and tires. I installed the lift last night, had the tires installed today and have an appointment for a 4-wheel alignment tomorrow. I am thinking a bind or something is causing the intermittent traction control to tick on and that the alignment will resolve it. Open to any suggestions / experience with this!

And I know - the most IMPORTANT question/comment will be "are you gonna post pics?!?!?!". Yes - as soon as I take some either tomorrow or this weekend I will post them. I might try to take one tonight, although the liberty is a bit dirty right now.

Digger - I actually didnt take any pics (I should have!) during the install. We started late and finished around 1:00 AM, so I was pretty wiped out! I can certainly take some closeups this weekend when I have the tires off for the trimming if anyone would like to see them.

Thanks! The GTO is stock. I actually dont have it anymore. I had 2. The first one was totaled when a young lady in a jeep (ironic) blew a red light at 50 and T-boned me in the drivers door. Darn near killed me. Managed to escape with a few broken ribs, lacerations and re-ruptured cervical disc I had just completed 6 months of therapy for. The replacement GTO was traded in for my Liberty.

And an update on my ESP intermittent problem. The alignment completely resolved it. No issues now. Also - the rubbing I thought I was having was actually not rubbing - it was the ESP actuating. I thought the clicking I heard was rubbing. On the way home after the alignment I hit several small to medium bumps. Even tried a bit of mild swerving to cause rubbing and there was none at all! Looks like I wont have to do any trimming of the plastic - although I am quite sure that if I get it articulated more or get off road it will certainly rub somewhere so I may trim it anyway. Based on what I have read recently, I was expecting substantial rubbing even with normal street driving.

Not yet. On my brothers he needed a new gear. I dont know if the liberties use gears or if the PCM needs to be reprogrammed.

Some new pics: I didnt get the tires off yet to get closeups of the suspension, but did get some views of the spacers. I will get some better ones soon. I also have a few pics showing the tire to fender clearance front and back.

Ouch,a OTT lift,better have a spare set of struts handy.Also you'll want to get some extended front upper bumpstops to help prevent the front struts from being ruined early from the OTT spaccer(Over The Top),which is very common.

I already plan on getting extended bump stops. I do appreciate the acronym definition lol! (I am familar with what an OTT lift is). Technically - (if I am not mistaken) this is actually a combo lift - in that includes the 4 spacers on top of the coil/strut as well as a spacer inside the coil/strut assembly. The majority of the lift is coming from the internal spacer. The OTT spacers you see are quite small - about 3/8". These are not like the rustys kit where the entire lift comes from the OTT spacer. Maybe semantics though - I suppose the entire assembly could be considered a "split-spacer" OTT system as opposed to an entire new strut?

In any case - I dont plan on doing much, if any off-road. The vast majority of my driving will be on nice paved roads so I am not too concerned.

I do sincerely appreciate the advice though! Actually - maybe you can offer me some more - the rear lift was only 1.25". I am wondering if it would not be prudent to purchase new / longer shocks? If so - what would you recommend?

Also - I have been searching for extended front bump stops online and cannot find a specific application for 2008 (although again, with only 3/8" of OTT spacer, I am wondering if I even need them). Any suggestions?

Well - I just got off the phone with a few vendors, including Revtek and they seem to agree with my assessment that with only a 3/8" OTT spacer an extended bump stop is not necessary (although I may look for one that is slightly longer - all the ones I saw were substantially longer).

Also - with a 1-1/4" lift in the rear I am still unsure if a longer shock is needed. Revtek indicated to me it was unnecessary as the original has enough travel. I did contact my Jeep dealer parts dept. and they indicated that the 08 shock is a different part number than the 07 and earlier. I would like to go with a better shock (RSX or OME) but cannot confirm the length needed.
