I bought the kit from the dealer. Diggerfreak gave me the 411 on removing the radio bezel. I put the thing in myself. It took a lot longer for me to decide where I would mount the module than it did to actually install it. Running the microphone isn't difficult either. Use Diggerfreak's reference photos in the Tech Section to help you pop off the bezel and inside pillar trim and. You don't have to drop anything else, the microphone wire will tuck right in the front of the headliner all the way across. Once installed, I carried it back to the dealer and they charged me $50 to add the option to my ECU and activate it which took about 25 minutes. I bet if you took it in for a warranty item that they were having to flash they might do it for free or at least cheaper. If your KK was made prior to October 2007 there is a re-flash for the ECU that is covered under warranty to correct (cold fluid) shifting / converter shudder. There is also a reflash to correct A/C function ( Read the TSB's in the Tech Section) Since either of these warranty items requires a re-flash you could probably get your Uconnect activated for free (if it was already installed)
PS - I took some 3M double sided tape and mounted my module behind the glovebox door on the right most side. It fits in there with about 1/64 of an inch clearance for the glovebox door.
PSS - By opening the glove box and applying a little pressure to both the right and left side of the box sides it will come compelely forward out of the dash. Then you can slide it off it's hinge to the right and competely remove the door/box unit. (10 seconds)
PSSS - I absolutely love the Uconnect. When I bought it, I though it was just a gimmick but I use it every day. My radio screen shows, caller id, battery level of my phone, signal bars, and number being dialed among other things. You can store something like 35 contacts in the module's memory and up to 4 numbers per contact. All you have to do is press the button on the radio and say "call john, home" or "dail 205 487 5555". I speak with a heavy southern drawl but after going through the voice recognition routine in the setup it understands me just fine. As fast as I can call out numbers it can dial.
Sorry for rambling..........
