| Post subject: | HELP--NOISE WHEN BACK UP AND PRESS BRAKE |
If I put reverse, roll back and press the brake and after the car stops i hear a sound like something is hitting me, just unter my seat (right and back). It keeps doing this if i continue to do the reverse with the brake. All this at very slow speed. It does the same in drive and in N . HELP PLEASE >>>>>>>>>>>>> |

ok, so you say that it is right under you, can you feel it in the steering wheel or is it just a sound. also is the sound a thud or a boom? Also, have you looked under the jeep to see if any thing is visually loose?such as the tranny support, gas tank, and one other thing, will it make the noise when you are in 4x4? |

It is just a sound (BOOM). Nothing is loose visualy and also i use a bar and try to lift the tranny but nothing. I did not try it in 4x4 . I will check and tell you so. |

I would say something is loose, how ever what has me puzzled is it only happens when moving slow. My only thought is that the drive line is binding while moving slow and when you are moving faster, it doesn't bind.. Is there any way that you can snap a bunch of pictures of the bottom? |

you have me stumped. I don't think it is the gas tank as it is mounted left side rear. the only thing that would be mounted where you described the sound is the exhaust |

O.K sorry the noise comes behind my seat, but from the right side of my seat that is almost the middle of the car or just on top of the fuel tank.

sometimes my parking brake do that. when im offroad and the guys in front stop i put it in N instead of P and use the hand brake. if I forget to release the hand brake when I start I will hear a bang because the hand brake pads get stuck. I guess they rust a lot |

Chrysler jeep service didn't find the exact reason for the noise. But yesteday i went to check if my new transfer case came, and one of the mechanics ask me about my problem. As soon as i told him , he anwsers back and told me. ITS THE DIESEL FUEL INSIDE THE TANK .FILL IT UP AND YOU WILL SEE. And my question is = Is the fuel tank plastic?? does it have any support? I have also install the metal protection for the tank ,and may be the forgot to bolt it right. AND SUGGESTION |

My CRD has never made the sound you are describing at all fuel loads. I will be very surpised if changing the Transfer Case makes any difference. The problem will be something simple you have not found yet.Keep looking!! |
