| Post subject: | Plans for lift and tires |
Hey guys, I am expecting delivery of my KK by mid December. I want to immediately trade in my tires and get some bigger, beefier rubber. I also want to get the JBA 2.5" lift. However, I don't think the place that I buy my tires from will be able to put the lift on for me (I don't know how to do it myself...nor would I trust myself). So, it is really a timing thing, and I think I'll need the tires before the lift. My question to you boys is, could I fit 245/70/R17 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires under a stock rig? The tire measures 30.6" in diameter. Here is the tire: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... es&place=0 On the other hand, I'm worried that after a 2" lift, that tire will be pretty small looking in the wheel wells. Any suggestions in terms of a.) whether it will fit a stock KK, and b.) whether or not I'd be better off with something a little bigger (that will fit stock) and look better when lifted? Thanks. |

I have seen people fit a 30.5" tire without a lift. Look around the size you will see several rides with various tires. "Diggerfreek" just got a 4" and has 30.5" tires they look slightly too small but not bad. He could fit 31's I plan on getting the 2.5" JBA lift to and know with a 2" spacer lift (although the final height was 2-3/4" of a lift) you can fit 265/75r16 which is a 30.7" tire. The biggest concern trying to fit the biggest tire in right after a lift is how much will it relax and reduce in height. The JBA 4" and 2.5" has no information on this from the manufacture as they are too new and no measurements are out!. Sounded like the 4" lift might relax a whole 1". So how much will the 2.5" lift relax?? I don't want to spend $2500 for parts, labor and new tires for a lift that might not even be 2" after a few weeks. I also tow so it makes a big difference. Saving $1600 between the cost of parts between a 2.5" and 4" JBA might not be worth it also I big question is how much difference would it be in install cost? I have had prices from $350 to $500 for the 2.5" jba lift to install and an estimate of $1000-1500 for the 4" jba to install that is $500 to $1000 more to install so overall $2100 to $2600 more for a 4" lift...... |

I am running a 225/75r16 which is a 29.3 to 29.8 inch tire depending on what online site you use. a 265/75r16 is a 31.6 http://www.s-series.org/htm/calc/tiresizeconv.htm |

Thanks for the correction. I meant to say 265/70R16 that is 30.7" Oh your only running 225/75r16 hmmm so what are you going to change to?? 245/75r16 (30.5" or 30.7" mud) or maybe a 31.7" like 235/85R16 like the red one on jba's site. |
