I have for sale four (4) brand new Bridgestone Blizzak DM-Z3 winter tires on aluminum rims. The tires are sized 225/75R16. The wheels have a 5x4.5" bolt pattern. I purchased them for use on my 08 Liberty, but have since changed the vehicle. The tires were never installed or used. Tires have been mounted and balanced. Centering rings and lug nuts are included. Shipped at buyer's cost. Tires can be shipped after 29-Dec-2008. Asking CDN$1000. |

No sir - the torque converter shuddering issue is, for now, not repairable. The TC can be replaced, but after talking to the tech at the dealership, he said that a new TC would only give extra time before the issue re-appears. I can't afford to spend the time going backwards and forwards to the dealership. Besides, my lease would have been up this time next year, and I'm fast approaching the km limit for the lease contract. I had the new dealership buy me out of my Jeep lease and now I'm financing a Toyota Tacoma. I realise that this will aggravate people on this forum and others, but Toyota's track record is pretty good, and the truck has everything I need. Yes, it's more expensive, but with Chrysler teetering on the edge of extinction, I want out while I can. And - it's still made in N. America, in California. |

There appears to be an issue with the torque converter not locking. Locking up in an auto transmission is analogous to the clutch plates fully engaging in a manual transmission car. The "partial lock" condition that occurs instead causes slippage, which leads to shuddering. The partial lock is designed to give a smoother gear change (according to the tech). I noticed the problem at between 1250 and 1750 rpm, at speeds between 60 km/h and 90 km/h. The technical service bulletin that Digger posted suggests a re-flash of the powertrain control module to cure the problem. My shuddering got worse after the re-flash, and efforts by the techs at the delaership (I visited two) were unable to fix it. They explained that they had replaced the TC on one other liberty, to no avail. The problem affects the 08 Liberty and 07-08 Dodge Nitros. I don;t know about 2009 models. My Jeep had 31,000 km before the shuddering got so bad that I started acting on the problem. Has anyone else noticed the problem? If so, at what mileage? |

I don't think having a Toyota is going to make any one mad... as far as the shutter, you are the first liberty to report this that i know of. the 2007 dodge nitros were by far the worst with the 2008 nitros having fewer problems. as far as the 2009 models go, no reports that i know of and i visit one of the largest nitro forums on the web frequently |

I also have the torque converter shudder in my wife's 08 Liberty. It too was flashed and all that it did was move the problem from 40 mph to about 50 mph. It is horrible. Additionally the sunroof leaks in a high pressure car wash. Chrysler says that the 08 Liberty sunroofs will all leak when they are subjected to a high pressure car wash. This car is a far cry from my 02 Liberty which was outstanding. It is particular to this car as my son's new Wrangler Rubicon is outstanding also. Should have bought the wife a Wrangler Unlimited. I went back to the dealers to buy back my 04 Grand Cherokee that we traded for the Liberty but it was sold. So, don't know what to do about this Liberty. We like it but hate the shuddering. |

If you have the time, just hope for lemon law, as there is not a fix as of yet |

Quote: Additionally the sunroof leaks in a high pressure car wash. Chrysler says that the 08 Liberty sunroofs will all leak when they are subjected to a high pressure car wash. Sunroofs, skysliders, and convertible tops,no matter who makes the vehicle, are only designed to seal against "NORMAL ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE",which is basically any water pressure below 22psi.You will not win that fight with the sunroof.

what is shuttering.... not happy to hear about this issue. for me I need a sub to tow and the rubicon can only tow 2000 and a 4runner was $7000 more. so I got a 2008 liberty with lifetime warranty for $1500. but I can afford to hear about issues with the issues gmc and chystler has now! in long run after a lift I wonder if the extra cost of a 4runner would be anything. thou I do like the jeep |

I understand your point about the normal atmospheric pressure, however my 2002 Liberty sunroof did not leak, my 2004 Grand Cherokee did not leak, my 2005 Grand Cherokee did not leak, my 2006 Chrysler did not leak, my 2007 Chrysler does not leak but my 2008 Liberty leaks. So, same car wash, and this Liberty leaks, I do not call this a improvement but a problem with the engineering of this vehicle. If all my prior Chrysler/Jeep sunroofs did not leak in the same hi pressure car wash, why should this one? |

Yeah that is what I would call a defect. I am glad I did not opt to get the sunroof for a few more hundred dollar or the cool skyliner that I knew would be a problem sometime down the line. |
