I want some dedicated snow tires for my Liberty. I use the HDC every time I visit my parents. They get BLASTED with weather and have a drastic driveway with a switchback. A Wrecker comes at least once a year to pull somebody out of the woods. The stock tires suck and I have been running them at 28lbs. This works but they are a bit sloppy on pavement. I have the 17 rims. What are your takes on brands? I can get them swapped each season for free at Bell Tire, but will this screw up my rims? Do I need to have the Tire pressure sensors reset each time? Should I get 16 inch rims with a different size tire? Love this forum, been reading it for a year. Jon |

I’m of two minds on this topic: If you generally drive on the street then yes, it makes the most sense to have a dedicated summer and winter set and doesn’t hurt the rims to change it around twice a year (and 16” rims, provided there isn’t some crazy clearance issue I don’t know about will allow you to run less expensive tires of either stripe…if you wanted to have dedicated rims). But, if you also intend to drive off pavement occasionally and generally use your jeep as a jeep (summer and winter) then running a good set of true AT tires (eg: mud and snow) is probably the best route. Note: MT (mud) tires suck balls in the snow/ice. Almost as much as the stock wrangler GSA’s. |

I went with Bridgestone Blizzak W965 LT 225/75-16. As tjkj2002 predicted - the tire is great - very glad I went with that over the P rated alternative. The E load rating threw me to begin with, but I've run em at 45psi and they're working out awesome. I do a lot of highway with them and will swap them out as soon as the snow melts at my house, whihc should be sometime in early june. |

Yeah the Bridgestone Blizzak tire is a really great winter tire. If you're not wanting to swap out tires every season though I'd go with a good all around AT. (As someone else where said... MT's suck balls in snow and ice!) I can't wait until my wrangler's wear out enough for me to buy some nice AT's. They've been horrible in the crud up here. |

Just suck it up and get some new ones. I sold mine at ~11k for 200 bucks. bringing my total down to ~350 for 4 tires M&B. On the subject of winter tires everyone I know with blizzaks really does like them. That said, and I've never used them on an SUV/truck myself - I've ridden in and/or driven a bunch of cars with Nokian Hakapelitas (sp?) and that is simply an amazing snow tire ($$$), they do make em for SUVs as well. |

Eh I just can't see making the investment right now. Leaving for 7 months of training, going to be back for 5, and then deploying for a year. Maybe by that time my wife-to-be will have them worn out or something. I dunno. |
