| Post subject: | Dead radio |
Has this happened to anyone else? The radio in my KK died this weekend - it's the base RES radio. It worked on a trip from my dad's house to my mom's. Then when leaving my mom's, the radio was completely dead. No clock, no power, no lights when the headlights were on. However, the UConnect module, which draws power (I think) from the radio - it certainly plugs into the radio in any event - is working. It paired with my phone when I start the Jeep - of course, it isn't of much use when the radio is dead. Anyone else have that happen? Going to the dealer tomorrow with it - I'll post what they say... |

Check fuse M10, It is yellow 20 amp located just to the upper right of the 2 fuse that are protected that control the air bags. M10 is the Ignition Off Draw circuit— Vehicle Entertainment System (IOD-VES), Satellite Digital Audio Receiver (SDARS), DVD, Hands Free Module (HFM), RADIO, Antenna (ANT), Universal Garage Door Opener (UGDO), Vanity Lamp (VANITY LP) TELECOMMUNICATIONS The hands-free cellular system on this vehicle uses Bluetooth™ technology to provide wireless communication between the operator's compatible cellular telephone and the vehicle's on-board receiver. The system uses voice recognition technology to control operation. The incoming voice is broadcast through the vehicle's radio speakers, automatically overriding any other audio signals on the front speakers when the hands-free system is in use. A microphone in the rearview mirror picks up vehicle occupant's voices. If a call is in progress when the ignition is switched off, the call will be transferred to the hand-held telephone. The system will communicate with a telephone that is anywhere within the vehicle. However, covering the hand held phone or the hands-free phone module with a metal object may block the signal. The system will recognize up to seven telephones, each of which is given a spoken identification by the user during the setup process. The system includes Spanish and French voice recognition in addition to English. The hands free module is contained within the radio for premium systems. The hands free module is located in the right rear of the vehicle behind the rear quarter panel. |

Just got my Jeep back - the issue with the radio was at the connector at the back of the radio. One of the pins came out at the back of the radio - they fixed it and all is good. (Not sure how it loosened its way out, but there you are... |
