I'm curious if anyone with a KK is planning to go to the LOST Jeep Safari in Ouray, Colorado this July 2009? You can find info under "LOST Events", then "LOST JEEP SAFARI 09- Ouray, Co.- July 11-18" or at http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=107.

Just looked it up - 288 miles. It could happen. Probably just for the weekend though.

Warning: Non-KK'er Post Hijack

Anyone who's even considering the possibility of making it out to LJS '09 should certainly come by (even for just the weekend). There will be PLENTY of stocker-friendly trails and lots of people who want to see those KK's in action...

OK I'll go back to my CRD section now

I'm really tempted - especially seeing those pictures. Here's a cross section of what my area is like:

______________________________________________________________________________

So any sort of hills, let alone mountains, would be amazing. The downside is it's just under 1,500 miles - each way. Still... my birthday is that week, and a rather momentous one at that. I just might have to make it happen!

I think that one was taken with the Canon 20D. Most likely with the kit 18-55mm lens.

Nice. I am a Pentax man myself, k200d . . . pretty much the equivalent to yours I think. Very nice shot though.

Post subject:  Ouray

My wife and I will be in Ouray July 17th and the whole following week. However our KK will be at home, we are driving my lifted TJ w/Thule cargo trailer and camping gear. We do this yearly and have a blast. Plenty of trails for stock KK's as well as lifted. We will bring it along in September when we go out again. durangotang......nice photo. My wife is a photographer using a Canon 40D and 50D. She gets some wild shots of our friends and us in our Jeeps. Anyways...she said nice shot on the Ophir photo.

Durantotang, can you post here and/or in the LOST Jeep Safari section a quick clarification exactly which trails and days you think will be stocker-friendly? I'm giving it some consideration (but need to work out some stuff too).

Thank you. :D

..just too far for me :(

Did the VA-to-CA-to-VA trip last year, can't afford it again. Even just CO, still too far. What a bummer.

In truth, every day will be stocker friendly. Almost all of the trails CAN be run in a stocker and I can almost guarantee there will be a second group each day just doing a scenic run. Any day you show up there will be something to run :D

Post subject:  First KK committed to going to LOST safari 09 in CO

Ok, I just worked out to combine this trip with a trip I had promised to take my retired father on this summer. Looks like so far, best I can tell according to the list of planned Liberty attendees, that I'm the first KK to commit.

I don't yet know if I'll be able to attend the full week or just the first, or last, half. I've got to work out some plans first, but definitely know I'm taking my '09 KK (which I should have by the end of February) on this trip. I love the Colorado mountains and backpack in them every summer. If you haven't already checked out some of photos from the trails and area, you need to check out this thread and this thread. Beautiful country :!:

Plus, I'm looking forward to seeing what a lot of the offroad KJers have done to their Libertys to help me learn and plan for modifications to my KK. So, any other KK owners wanna join in :?: :)
