I've decided I think I'm going to trade in my KJ and get a new 09 KK this Summer when I get my political job with Tom Ivester here in Oklahoma. I want to get a Silver 09 with all the bells, I need to know in you guy's opinion what I should get on it: I want an Automatic with 4WD and Leather Seats but what options should I get?

If I don't stir the pot then no body will and the world would be boring, watch this guy for extreme sarcasm though :D

As Boblemoche said, it all depends upon your tastes. Or said another way, it all depends upon what you want to do with your Liberty.

1 - You mentioned you wanted leather, so you may want to consider getting Premium Group I. If you go take a test drive, I think most people would like the leather seating and leather trimmed accents (new for '09). Premium Group I also gets you heated front seats, power front seats, memory seating for the driver and even remote start.
2 - If you think you are ever going to want to take your Liberty off paved surfaces (you are thinking 4x4 after all), then you should definitely consider the Skid Plate Group which provides protective skid plates / shields over various critical underbody items as well as tow hooks front and rear. If you're going off-road, at some point you're going to need to be pulled out of a situation by someone and, likewise, you're going to need to be able to pull someone else out. FYI, it is possible to add the skid plates later.
3 - If you think you are going to go off paved surfaces, then you may want to consider avoiding Premium Group II since it includes 18" wheels (which will be more susceptible to damage off-road). There are other threads on this board discussing the "trail rated" badging topic including that if you get the 18" wheels, your Liberty will not have this badge even though there is no other functional difference (other than the wheel damage susceptibility previously mentioned). Note, you can have your dealer install pretty much everything that Premium Group II adds beyond Premium Group I so you can pick and choose features out of Premium Group II. For instance, I am having my dealer install the Cabin Air Filtration System in my Limited 4x4 with only Premium Group I. FYI.
4 - If you ever think you're going to want to tow something (such as a jetski, snowmobile, boat, ATV, motorcycle, another automobile, camper, multi-purpose hauling trailer, etc.), then you may want to consider Trailer Tow Class III Group which in addition to the Class III receiver towing hitch (with 5,000 lb towing capacity and 750 lb tongue weight capacity on '09s) and all associated wiring, you also get Heavy Duty Engine Cooling and a Power Steering Cooler. To me, just getting the heavy duty engine cooling and power steering cooler for such vital engine fluids adds value even though I may only tow something 1-2 times per year.
5 - There are several other threads, including this one, which discuss Comand-Trac II versus Selec-Trac II 4WD systems. Ultimately, after you understand the difference, you may want to think about your driving conditions and preferences.
6 - If you like to drive with your windows down, then you may want to consider either the Power Sunroof or the larger opening Sky Slider soft top roof. Again, there are multiple threads on this board discussing these, but it ultimately, like everything else, comes down to your preference.
7 - If your Liberty will be setting outside in the cold and you're concerned about starting it or how long it takes to warm up (even though Premium Group I adds remote start functionality), you may want to consider adding the Engine Block Heater. FYI, I believe it is possible to add the engine block heater later.
8 - Again, if you're planning to off-road your Liberty, then you may want to avoid the Exterior Appearance Group or the Chrome Accents Group as both groups include tubular side steps that are for aesthetics and will not hold up well to an encounter with an off-road rock. They are not rock rails / sliders. Again, you can have your dealer install any individual item of either group on your Liberty without having to purchase the entire Group. For instance, although expensive for what it is, I chose to have my dealer install the Front Tubular Grille Guard to help visually set off my Libery KK from others since no aftermarket winch-capable bumpers are currently available.
9 - If you're looking for "bells and whistles" and are into tech, then you may want to consider uConnect with GPS. This touch-screen infotainment system includes a 30 GB HDD you can upload your digital music files (MP3 or WMA), and even some photos, to. It includes the usual FM/AM/Satellite radio, CD player, DVD player (only when in park) and an auxiliary input jack to receive input from a portable music player. The on-board GPS-based navigation can display where you are, track where you've been if you want, display streets, provide directions to a destination, etc. It does seem to be limited to street based information and does not include topographic or coordinate data (for when not on streets). With this option you can pair the system with your blue-tooth capable cell phone and then control, as in answer or dial, your cell phone via voice commands. The system will automatically synch up with your phone when you bring the phone into the vehicle (once you've completed the pairing procedure).

As listed in the KK aftermarket parts/suppliers section, you can view an on-line version of the 2009 Jeep Liberty Accessories brochure which shows more options you can separately purchase and install or have your dealer install. You can also check out the "build your own" section of Jeep's website. Depending upon how soon you're interested, there are currently some great pricing incentives you may want to check out.

I hope this helps. :) After you determine what you want out of your Jeep Liberty KK, happy shopping....

Great list, MtnLuvr. I'd just add the following:

What might make more sense is to simply get the dealer to switch out the tires from the 18"s to the 17s or 16s. For me this seemed the easier (and I think cheaper) route to go, but I doubt there would be a big $$ difference however you chose to do it.

And another benefit of getting the memory seating for the drivers is that the side mirrors can be configured to tilt down in reverse. Some people like the feature a lot. (I was thinking this was with Premium Group II, not Group I, but I may be mistaken.)

In any case you will definitely love the new vehicle! It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun.

Personally, I went with Selec-Trac II which can be utilized in 4WD all the time. Although some say it is the more sophisticated 4WD system, this may ultimately mean it may be more prone to problems. My quick understanding is that Command-Trac II should only be in 4WD when on loose surface (e.g. dirt, gravel, snow, rain, etc.) otherwise, especially when turning, you can get tire scrubbing (and essentially the opposing tires fighting since they are not allowed any small slipage and to turn at varying speeds). That's my quickie. Someone else can weigh in with something more descriptive (and maybe more accurate).

command track ma be slightly stronger but not enough to be a consern imho.
its not very expensive and I really like it in the snow when i get stuck in 2wd I can switch to 4wd and back up on a non slippery surface without problems. Many times already I used 4wd in situations that would have been a problem with command track. I also think from what I heard from command track users that the electrick shifter on selec track will switch from 2wd to 4wd auto easier.

If you never see a snowflake in your area select track might not be the best thing to get

Here we have VERY SLIPPERY roads!
so select trac was a must for me.. and I have never looked back!!!!

well you can actually choose
on 2wd with slipery conditions the traction controls always kicks in
on 4wd auto traction control almost never kicks in
you know the story of 4lo

What im trying to tell you is get as much as you might want or need... I decided to go with mopar's exterior appearance group because it was cheaper to buy from the factory so that they would install it than hunting down the parts and doing the install myself.

I really dont know why I got the skid plates but for the price I decided to add them
so I guess that in the end its your call

how ever, if your like me and like to *&^^&* around in the snow,

but really, It would be less work on the T case when wheeling to either have it in 4x2 or in 4x4... by throwing it in auto, you are now having the computer move you from 2wd to 4wd multiple times and as we know, if you use something, in the end it will wear out. So i guess my point is

fewer parts = stronger, more reliable, cheaper to service, and a longer useful service life between rebuilds
