well im having trouble grasping how tall the kk actually becomes after a 2.5-4 inch lift and tires. Im 6ft and just a bit taller than mine now and it drives me nuts i hate getting in instead of climbing in. Can people with the revtek, daystar, rockkrawler and 4 inch jba yes you digger lol take a pic of them standing beside theres. thanks
KKomando, maybe this will help:
Measure your existing KK height.
If you installed a lift kit, it will raise your KK's body by the nominal amount of the lift. For example, assume a lift kit advertised as 2.5" will raise the entire body of your KK approximately 2.5". Beware there may be some small differences in actual measurements from vehicle to vehicle (due to suspension settling/sagging and the specific lift manufacturer).
Also, with a lift kit installed, you can fit larger diameter tires. There are bunches of threads discussing this as there are just now getting to be multiple KKs out there with some type of lift so we're seeing people putting different tire sizes on their lifted KKs. I bring this up, because your KK will also be raised by half of the increase in tire diameter from what it is now. So, if you increase your tire diameter by 1", your KK will wind up sitting 1/2" higher (and you'll have 1/2" more ground clearance under the rear differential). There are various websites people post that you can reference to determine the outside diameter of a tire. The basic math relationship is:
For tire designations of 245/75R16 where 245 is the nominal tire width in millimeters (mm), 75 is the aspect ratio of tire sidewall height to width and R16 means it is for a 16" diameter wheel rim. So, putting 245/75R16 into the format of W/PRD
a. W(in mm) / 25.4 = Tire nominal width in Inches
b. Nominal tire sidewall height (in inches) = tire nominal width (in inches) x P (the aspect ratio but as a decimal, so "75" means times "0.75").
c. Overall Tire Diameter = 2 x Nominal tire sidewall height (in inches) + D (the wheel rim nominal diameter).
So for the 245/75R16 example:
a. The nominal tire width = 245mm / 25.4 = 9.65".
b. The nominal tire sidewall height = 9.65" x 0.75 = 7.24".
c. The Overall Tire Diameter = 2 x 7.24" + 16" = 14.48" + 16" = 30.48".
Thus, you can look at your KK now and evaluate what height it would be based upon adding the height of a lift kit as well as increasing the overall tire diameter. I hope this made sense and helps.
