While at the dealer today, he showed me that Jeep announced that the "Jeep Green Metallic with Clear Coat" paint option will not be available the rest of the 2009 model year. I'm glad I got confirmation that mine, which I ordered in Jeep Green, got built and completed today at the Toledo assembly plant. My dealer did say he was able to enter another custom build order yesterday for Jeep Green and it accepted it, but that Jeep was only taking something like 500 more Jeep Green orders before refusing any others. Apparently, this restriction on a paint color has happened before due to one of two possible reasons:
2 - Apparently when Cerebus Capital Management bought Chrysler, they scaled back on color choices for a short time. Things like this are commonly done either to consolidate colors across models and/or as leverage when renegotiating paint supply contracts with the paint manufacturers. The Jeep Green color restriction also affects the Wrangler (Jeep's best seller). It is hard for me to imagine Jeep not having a green option, so personally I'm guessing they're going to be coming out with a different green later in the year or for the 2010 models (potentially after also renegotiating their paint supply contracts). Geez, man...that is a real shame.....all I can say is: I GOT MINE!!! On a serious note, I can't imagine why they got rid of that color. That was like the flagship color in my opinion...what do you replace it with? Neon Yellow? Seriously? If they wanted to do something cool, they'd replace it with a dark brown...that would be about the only color I think that would be worthy. You can't take an earthy, manly color and replace it with atomic blue or some nonsense....you've got to come back with something along the same lines. I think a metallic brown would be nasty w/tan interior. |

It doesn't necessarily mean they won't have green, they may just be changing to a different shade of green. I know the KJs had (at least one) different shade of green than what has been used on the KK to date. There are currently two different reds for the KK. I agree green for a Jeep is a "flagship color" which is part of why I'm speculating they're not getting rid of green, just going to change to a different green. I dunno, time will tell.... |

thats good news makes the green less common. they should have never made it in that new blue tho wtf where they thinking its not a nitro. |

hmm... I do know that the paint that was on the 09 I took pictures of didn't have as much metaflake and was a tad more olive green |

Theres a few green ones sitting up here at the plant to ship out so I am sure there will be some on the dealers lots for the asking. Will ask some of the neighbors to see if anyone inside knows what the new "green" will be |

Hey Tommudd, one of those may be mine.......I found out today my custom-built KK was reportedly flagged this morning as completed and awaiting loading on a rail car. Yee-haww
