his TRICK may work for you!!
OK folks a Little Caliber Trick That most of us tried with various result!!! It worked for me ---Faster Accelleration, Better Economy,No Bogging down & stumbling away from the lights. This is only for 2litre & 2.4 Gas with CVT.We discussed this at length on Caliber ForumZ, These cars leave the plant with Engine computer management set for average acceleration , Average MPG & Average Joe Public driver!!!

Turn on Ignition, Depress Accelerator pedal very slowley to the floor, Let pedal come very slowley back up again. You have now re set the Electronic Engine Management Unit... It will now start to learn the way YOU want to drive the Car...Not the previous owner or the factory settings...

Oh yea when pedal has returned to the Top --Turn IGN. Off & just give it a minute before re starting. Give it a try folks , I'd be interested to hear results!!!

will this work on the KK?

I went to the dealership the other day because my KK was acting like it was missing a shift going into 3rd, and then when it did shift, it was a HARD shift. Anywayh - they didnt find anything wrong, I also said that the Jeep was acting like I was supposed to be a grandma driving it and I wanted it to re-learn my driving style. Said he coudlnt wipe that without another problem being present.... ok well i tried!

I'm thinking there is more to it than that for the Liberty.

Digger posted this a bit ago (scroll to the bottom) which looks like what you're after.

Yea. I been noticing the same thing when driving my KK. Sometimes it really winds out in second gear and sometimes it slips the 1st to 2nd shift... Its really weird, cause its so random.... I still have low miles( just over 1000) on my rig so maybe its still learning???

There is a TSB for your problem, its #21-018-08.I had this done on my wifes KK,and it seems to help with shifting.
