Welcome rob... One quick question, why 3 cb's?

Author:  Diggerfreek [ Mon Mar 16, 2009 11:41 am ]
Post subject:

never mind, I just saw that they run on 3 different frequencies

lol yeah, none of them are CB's.

i used to be a cop in hawaii, so i enjoy listening still... that, and i'm an amateur radio operator

im going to drill the roof this week for better antenna installation.

Rob, welcome to the board and this community of KK enthusiasts.

If you've been lurking for awhile, I'm sure you know to please register the year and model of your KK in our sticky poll at the top of this section so we can help build our number of KK enthusiasts to help attract aftermarket producers sooner than later.

Congrats on the KK and coming back to Jeep.

How did you route your audio cable from the dock to the radio?

i'll take some more detailed pictures, but i just ran the power cable and the audio cable behind the dash bezel.... worked out pretty cleanly. i tapped in the 12V and placed multiple extra power sockets inside the glove box... i HATE seeing cables and wires...

Wow.... I was wondering how anyone would be able to install Commercial radios in a Liberty. Jeep's are usually a pain to do 2 way installs in from what I have read on radio boards. I'm a ham, but I don't have the nerve to install some commercial two-ways in my Liberty LOL. Did you consider getting a BC-RH remote head for that BCT-15 scanner? they are discontinuing them even after lowering price no one buys them.

i run a galaxy 979 cb/ssb , it's a pretty big radio, i mounted it on the passenger side of the console

i opened the glove box and positioned it so that the radio was about 1/8th of an inch from the edge of the open glove box, marked the edge of the bracket on the console, made sure the seat would move all the way forward, hooked a coax so that i could make sure it wouldn't be all crimped by the hump in the floorpan

took a piece of 8 x 12 heavy flashing, slightly heavier than roofing tin and tucked it under the plastic of the console and zipped the 6 self tapping screws through

its easy to reach, the coax and power cord are out of the way of feet, it doesn't get in the way of knees

just an idea for those big honkin radios ;)

I had mine tucked between the armrest console and the seat for a while, tried to see if it would fit inside hte console if i took out the console tray and that was no go, wanted it somewhere i could throw a jacket over to hide it if i wanted so thats where it ended up

Wiring has since been properly ran ;)
