I am getting ready to trade in my 02 Liberty Sport. I've been back and forth multiple times on which vehicle to upgrade to. I started out thinking about going with another Liberty, then moved onto the FJ Cruiser, then I decided I missed my old Mustang GT and was looking for a sports car. Last week it snowed, and I was instantly reminded that I live at a high elevation and as much fun as it would be in the summer, having to chain up every time it snows is a huge pain! Now I've come full circle and decided that the Liberty just suits my needs best. Plus my current liberty has been good to me. I had an alternator burn out at 42k miles, and recently had to replace both rear window motors plus the lock actuator on the swing gate, but other than that, I've been free of any major mechanical problems, and now have around 114K on the odometer. I dropped by the local lot last week to see what they had in stock. Not surprisingly, with the current economic situation, they are not moving many new vehicles. There are several 08 models still sitting on the lot. The one that caught my eye was a new 08 Limited in Dark Green. It has leather, sunroof and the Infinity stereo (which will be pulled immediately after purchase and replaced with a Pioneer AVIC F900-BT Nav unit). The retail price per the sticker is just over $30k. Dealership markdowns and current incentives bring the price down to $23,999. I am thinking of trying for an even $24k out-the-door with a 100k mile warranty thrown in, and asking for full kbb trade in value of $4500 for my trade. So what do you guys think? Does this sound like a fair offer? Am I asking for too much or do you think I can do even better? |

I'm not sure about the price, but its a great time to pit dealers against each other. Shop around. |

(just be sure its a 4x4) if it is then it was meant for you. Consider this also: Jeep green will become extinct, so get it now and you might get yourself a collectible! and one other thing: Dont give up on mygig just yet (if you buy it) its a good piece of sound equipment..... and if you do, Dibs on the stereo!!!! hope this helps! Ohh and one other thing: I just saw a limited on my dealers lot with 34k miles (premium group 1, mygig 4x2) and they were asking 22,000.... so even though it is expensive for a used model, it kind of puts things in perspective because you are considering a NEW vehicle for almost the same price! |

I'm gonna agree - I bought my '08 limited in May last year (Canada), and paid just over 30 for it. $24 at the moment seems about right to me... Only addition I'd recommend - is to at least TEST DRIVE the sky slider - as much as a pain alot of people seem to be having with it.... come summer/spring time... it makes for a VERY nice/fun cruise, almost on par with a true convertable, but not QUITE... My wind noise issues *seem* to be better since having TSB rev. B done. |

to me it seems high for an 2008. You can buy a New old 2009 Grand cherokee List price 32,000 for just over 22,000. New old means been on the lot for more than 5 months. |

You can get them down to $22,000. Tell them too look around for a Special Fiance coupn Chrysler sends them to know off $1k to $500 off the price. They get 1 to 4 a month... I got my Liberty for $22,000. It was well loaded... dealer wanted $35k for it. Sticker was $31k If it has the Mygig uncoonect navi in it, leave it in. It is a very nice unit. I love mine it is faster than any other navi unit I have seen. The stereo sound pretty good... |

the mygig is a $2100 option and the skyslider is a $870 option.. just walk away and let them call you if you feel it is to much. The tax rates goes up April first for CA I am not sure for other states, so look into that and buy the new car before then. if your states taxes go up at all. |

That won't work anymore ... Gas is around $1.89gl by me ... It has gone down A LOT over the last 6 months and really can't be used as a buying tool anymore. |

I wound up getting it for 21,600 before tax, so I came out a little bit better than where I was hoping to be! Some would say that I broke the cardinal rule of car buying when I took the first offer the salesman presented, but this makes 4 cars in a row I have purchased from the same salesman, and he knows that I come prepared, so he has never tried to screw me over. There's something to be said about having a decent price thrown out on the table as soon as you sit down. If I had spent more time calling every dealer in the state and pitting them against each other, I might have been able to save a little more, but I was in a unique situation, trying to find a leftover 2008 with exactly the options I wanted. Overall, I am very happy with the new KK so far. It is much, much quieter inside than my 02 KJ, which I love, but you can definately feel the engine working harder to pull the extra weight! The move from sport to limited trim has been nice too! Nothing like the smell of new leather! I'm still getting used to the remote start function. I really missed having a sunroof, and I find this one much more quiet at freeway speed than my PT Cruiser's was. I will probably always wonder if I should have gone with the Sky Slider top, but I still have doubts about it's long term reliability, and I plan on keeping this car for another 5-6 years. It would have been really nice to get the MyGig nav system, but I am an avid XM fan, and sirius just isnt cutting it for me. Getting an aftermarket nav system looks like it's going to be expensive, but still not as much as Jeep seems to think their MyGig/uConnect is worth. The head unit itself is just the beginning of the cost. Then you add in the XM receiver, steering wheel control adapter, wiring harness adapter to integrate with the existing amp/subwoofer, iPod adapter, etc.... Not to mention that I am useless when it comes to electrical work, so I'm sure the install cost is going to be expensive too! And dammit, if a system is capable of playing movies while the vehicle is moving at highway speeds, it should do it right out of the box, without having to do any extra re-wiring! Not that I would ever drive and watch a movie at the same time, but it's just nice to know that I could if I wanted to! I can't wait for May to roll around so I can take it out for it's first road trip. Going to see The Dead play at Shoreline! |
