I know my KK is new and all but I want to take care of the skyslider to squeeze the most out of it....
I saw this product @ amazon
http://www.amazon.com/RAGGTOPP-Converti ... 484&sr=8-1
and was wondering if it is something that the skyslider needs.... if not what steps should I take to preserve the skyslider in its new condition?
thanks

i don't do much with soft tops and what not, or whatever a skyslider is , sounds like a Nitro thing that Digger would have ;)

i can tell you what not to do through my friends expeirence, his wranglers soft top was all dry and narsty.. he got hte bright idea of putting that meguires tireshine silicon stuff, the kind that comes with the really nice applicator.. on his top

It looks friggin sweet

then it rained, and the stuff started running down the side of his wrangler

Now THAT was funny

What the hecks a skyslider secret silver squirell, Picture!

Tips for a clean top all the time.

1. vacum it before washing
2. use a natrual fiber brush for cleaning
3. still need to read up on what soaps work best.
But I would use something very very mild and dilooted
4. dry with a wet/dry vac

Cover the car every time it is in the sun and or not moving.
or put it in a garage....

I am not sure there is a lifetime warranty for this part...

But I opted for an extended 7 year 100K mile warranty that was less then the cost to replace this top and many other possible high fail items.

I got my extened warrnty from the dealer ship.
They wanted $2kfor it. i told them forget it.
So they lowered and added in milage...

It started off a 7 year 75K miles for $2K.

I got them to 7 years 100K for $1,600..
It also came with rentals coverage, $35 day towards the cost of a rental.
It is transferable to next owner if I sell, and returnable for 7 years.
but when returned it is prorated. I will never get my $1600 back.

I have seen many companies who sell these warranty packages, but I have only truested teh dealer or my insurance company.

THe dealer wil sell you this at any time. but the price goes up with milage.

there is a $100 deductable, but I can take this warrranty to any shop that is ASC certified. So most of the time it will be the dealer. they charge about $100 anyways for looking at a Jeep.

SO i thought it was a good call...

They also wanted to sell me a maintance pre-pay package. for $1800.
but oils and filters do not cost that much.
So let that go.

My plan for ours is to use the same meguires product I use on my boat canvas as it is basically the same material. Meguires makes a canvas cleaner and a protectant that is safe for all finishes. It helps protect the material, waterproof it, and keep the color from fading. A few other forums have used it on their tops and they love it. I have only used it on my boat and I love it on that canvas and it works well.
