What does the KK use for a front diff? Is it better than the kjs? Just wondering if it was possible to retrofit it in the kj if the kj's broke.

its diffrent than kj diff and stronger but we dont know how much stronger yet. KK diff will not bolt on the kj but it can fit with some work. the kk diff is based on the jk dana30 and can use gears up to 4.88 :D

yep since the KK's front diff uses a 4th mount at the pinion area you would need the KK's cradle also and maybe some if not all of the front IFS stuff too. Those cradles are not cheap, used they go for $600 or so.

I wonder if that 4th mounting point can be welded onto the existing cradle somehow.

I bet someone with good welding skills could cut the kj cradle and weld a custom mount to fit the kk diff for much less than 600$

Does anyone have a pic of this cradle and what it looks like?

here you can see the mount in question they actually moved the 3rd mount there is not 4 mounting points
its aluminium so you cant weld it directly and since its a hi pinion you must cut the kj cradle somehow

there you go Inc

I was reading somewhere how they originally wanted to make the liberty diff a floating mount. But this costed $74 extra so they cut the idea. This would have given 12" of stock travel. Too bad it never happened.

Thanks. Seems like it wouldn't be too terrible of a deal to make work.

I am but for those not wanting to spend the $ on SFA this would be a cool and worthwhile project I would think. You could run 4.88s, lock both ends and have a really capable jeep.

Inc is right, if some one wanted to spend the money and time, they would have a very nice KJ
