RRO tried the KK with a 265/70/17 with a -12 offset and they said that it rubbed slightly on the front bumber inner lip (which I could trim down). With that the wheels were flush or sticking out slightly, now I want a wheel that with have a greater stance, would a higher - offset give me that? If so, is -25 too much? Want to order some this really soon!

yes -25 will give you a wider stance than -12 on the same width rim. I think what rro used are 9'' wide rims. depending on the tire you will use they may rub on the pinch weld if they stick out too much. you can always pound or cut the pinch weld depending on how crazy you are with your KK

Yup you are right, they used a 9 inch wheel. I am looking at the nitto AT at 265/70/17. Is the pinch weld only on the passenger side or both? I really like the look of the incubus's so I might just do those with some mudders.

it's on both sides , pretty easy modification to pound it, look for one of tom's or one of the other guys posts about using a heat gun and what not to affix the plastic back down if ya want

Sweet, is there a DIY for it? Also, do I have to keep the plastic removed? Thanks!

here's the skinny

jack it up take the wheels off, use a cutting device of some sort to cut the plastic around the pinch weld into like a flap, hold the flap up, pound the pinch down, cut off some of the excess plastic, the part that used to protrude, with exception of the flat part, press teh plastic back down, heat the strips you cut with a heat gun and basically glue the flap back down

kinda straight forward

you're basically using the excess plastic that used to make the protrusion, and usin that to clue it back down flat with the rest of the liner

know what i mean?

and it doesn't even have to be done in that fashion, whatever you come up with to help seal the liner back up that you think is suitable will work, i haven't done mine yet, my 235-70's rub because my stock suspension is so worn out :P so I should pound it before it rubs a hole in the liner but I thought of taking some moldable plastic like whats used for patchin johnboats and what not and basically mashin it over the spot and using liquid nails or something to seal the plastic patch to the liner

it's basically whatever works

between pounding and heating plastic - most folks spray some undercoating on the pinchweld - you'll have spots of bare metal - you don't want it to rust
(and don't be tempted to just cut the pinchweld off- the weld is important)

K, I will grab a can before I go at it. So how much does the pinch weld help with tire size? What is the purpose of it?

Stick with a 7" wide rim for 265 tires,9" rim is way to wide for those tires.I'm sure about the same back spacing is needed for a KK that a KJ needs for minimal rub which is about 4"-5" with a 7" wide rim.The wider the rim the less overall tire height will result also, not to mention the tire installer will hate you to no end with a wide wheel and narrow tire.

Not to sure how the tire sizes work with metric and standard but if I go with a 15x8 (the wheels that I want don't have a 7), what would be the equivalent tire of 265/70/17 to the 15x8 rim? I think I am going to go with the MT MTZ if that would help.

most people will say that a 15 wont fit on the kk i havent tried myself but i think there is someone on here that did. anyway the = of 265/70r16 would be either a 30x9.5 or a 31x10 depending on the tire. wow i actually know somthing funny right guys im normally the one with all the questions. my day in the spotlight lol

A 15 will not fit. There isn't enough clearance between the rotor/ caliper to clear a 15. Heck even with a 16, it's close

thanks guys! I will stick with 17's, 265/70/17.
