Post subject:  KK Sales in March (and 2009 YTD)

Although the automotive market, and overall economy, definitely still have challenges, at least versus other Mopar vehicles, the KK Liberty is holding up pretty good.

According to Chrysler's March 2009 Sales Results, KK sales in March barely edged out the Grand Cherokee to make the KK the 2nd best selling Jeep (way behind the all-popular Wrangler). Although year-to-date, the KK is a very close 3rd in Jeep sales behind the Grand Cherokee. According to this news release, KK sales were up 16% in March over February of this year.

Personally, I think all of this bodes well for the KK Liberty long-term that it is holding up so well during such rough economic times. If you look down through the sales figures, either March or 2009 YTD, you can certainly see that there are a lot of other vehicles not selling anywhere near as well as the KK Liberty. Glancing through the Current Year To Date stats as of March 2009, it looks like the KK Liberty is the number 8 seller out of all 25 Mopar vehicles sold -- that's in the top third.

Just sharing info and offering any encouragement if anyone is apprehensive about the KK's future given the current (short-term) economic challenges. I know before I ordered my custom KK in early January 2009, I spent a lot of time thinking about and evaluating considerations regarding will the KK Liberty survive the current economic and political turmoil. Obviously, I became confident it will and thus ordered my KK and have enjoyed it ever since I took delivery just a little over a month ago.

Yeah I would say it is holding this own. Just look at the sales for KA's... The KK sold more than twice amount of units

true, but they have been out a year longer than the KK. Also a lot of the KK sales numbers are from private companies like the forest service and insurance companies

The KA Nitro definitely sold better when it first came out. It got to capitalize on its proportions and features as it came out a year before the KK Liberty. Look at the Chrysler 2008 Sales Figures. Nitro sales dropped 51% from 2007 to 2008 (from 74,825 down to 36,368). To put that data in fair perspective given the 2008 economic climate, overall Dodge's sales dropped 26%, Chrysler's 38% and Jeep's 30% 2008 from 2007.

The sales numbers show that by the end of 2008, there were 111,193 (74,825+36,368) KA Nitros sold (across both its model years) versus only 66,911 for the (first-year) 2008 KK Liberty. Thus, as of the end of 2008, for every 2 KK Libertys on the road, there were roughly 3 KA Nitros. If the KK Liberty keeps outselling the KA Nitro by more than 2 to 1 as it has so far this year, that trend won't hold for long (depending upon overall sales volume).

Please understand I'm not trying to bash KA Nitros but rather just offering my quick analysis of the numbers.
