Post subject:  Digger's new shocks

Well today I installed my new rear bilstein shocks. I must say that I really like them. Since the whole install took like 10 minutes and I needed to test out my new rear bump stops, I had some time to go and play. I hate malls, so I decided to go school crawling

Looks great Digger! Any kind of crawling is better that none.
When I did the Rancho shocks on my ride, the instructions said to put the boot at the top.
Another question is, does it really matter as far as performance of the shock goes? I have seen others with the boot at the top as well, including stock.

STINGN, Give me the scoop, whats with the hate mail about Rancho? Inquiring minds need to know... As I just put some on my ride.

Very nice Diggermeister! When you get a chance, give us a comparison in terms of ride quality.

Also, what are the chances that Fox Racing has a shock that would fit the KK with a 2.5" lift???? How would one be able to figure out the correct sizing, load range, etc?

Why new shocks? What where wrong with the shocks that came with the 4" JBA lift? Did it give you more height?

If you can buy other shocks then one might want to buy the coils, arms and braklines for the 4" JBA costing just under $1000 and then get the tracker bar for some cost. I'm I missing anything?

they were good for a few months, but now notice that they are not nearly as tight...bilstein has always been good to me compared to rancho, not hate mail, just more of a love for bilstein

Man that web site makes me mad

ok you have two choices with the 2.0's either run the 22.80 x 14.30 and top out at full flex or run the 26.10 x 16.10 and not get full compression. the stock shocks measure out at 21.75 x 14. If you want to run with then, let me know and I will go a little more in depth on the specs

these shocks are rebuildable so there is no load range they might not come with the right settings from factory and you may have to revalve them. as far as what size you need for a 2.5 lift id sugest something close to what you got with the lift. I would guess 8'' or 10'' travel

do they fit? I will find out soon since I ordered a set for my lift :D

Well, let me ask a few rookie questions:

1.) What noticeable benefit comes with a higher end shock vs. the rancho's? If it is ride quality...I'm interested. If it is more capability, probably not so much....I'd rather spend the cash on a rear locker.
2.) You mentioned that the stock spec is 21.75 x 14, but what are the rancho's on the 2.5" JBA?
3.) What do you mean by "top out at full flex" vs. "not getting full compression", and which do you think would be a better route? Are you saying that at full flex the 22.80 x 14.30 will not support me, hence damaging my suspension? Likewise, are you saying that the 26.10 x 16.10 would not allow me to fully take advantage of the flex my suspension would otherwise provide?

Hahahahaha....you just can't keep this man down! Rear and front ARB, custom rear and front bumper, re-geared, a 4" lift and tires on the way, AND the dude gets top end shocks ordered before I can even look at them! Cripes!....your rig is going to make a few Rubicons turn their head.

If you really want to frost their fanny, you should get a "> Wrangler" (as in "greater than") sign.
